Yikes!  I couldn't imagine taking a train or bus from NYC.  Flying is the only way to go. cheers

I've been thinking about it, but it's too far ahead to foresee if we can wing it or not.  My husband starts classes/training for corrections officer in the spring; so, I've even had to watch which trip sweeps I enter.  We still can decide near that time anyway, because we wouldn't stay in that hotel anyway.  With our membership with Entertainment.com, we can get a hotel room at 50% off at a very nice nearby hotel for less money than the rooms are costing at the convention center.  Like I said before, you can get all kinds of deals if you just know where to look.

I can't come because I have a house to take care of now and high expenses. I hope you all have a real wing-ding.

Cin girl......   These are sooooooooooo much fun..... Tons and Tons of great prizes given away ALLLLLLLLL weekend and speakers to help keep us sweepers motivated.  People who have won houses, cars, mega cash, etc.  These are the type of speakers they have.  Alot of mail-in sweepers at these things, online entries are rather new, so they don't speak much on that... lots of vendors selling some sweep items I've never ever seen before to help get your entry picked, and so on.... Good Times at these conventions... Cin... DO NOT miss out on this one girl...... I promise you will not be disappointed.  Ohhh andthe Raffles are hecka fun...... Last year I won one of the Cash Raffles... $500 cash.... lots of fun girl.... Go to the website, I posted the link to it somewhere in this thread

I just wanted to give an FYI on that part.  I was reading about how the clearinghouses pick winners from the snailmails.  Despite sweepers insistance on decorating envelopes, using colored envelope, something that will make your envelope stand out, to give them a better chance of winning; it's a disillusion.  According to clearinghouse employees comments I've read regarding this, they number every envelope that comes in.  The number is then randomized, and the envelope with that number on it wins despite what it looked like or how it was decorated.  Plus, if you think about it, picking a winner that way wouldn't really be fair or legal.

OK I will give it some thought and if the money fairy comes to my house and I can get a ride I might get to go. I don't drive and no way hubby would want to go. If someone from Houston is going let me know.

Waving Ok thanks to hitthegroundboys  Im gonna be bunking with her, and shes paying my reg. Thanks  love
So half my troubles are over. I just will need to raise the money for either plan ticket/or grey hound? I'm pretty sure I can do that.

I think those tshirts are a great idea. lol. I want a pink shirt! Pink is my fav color.
So the people that have been to conventions before. Is there sweeps there you can enter without paying an entry for it>? I read on the website about needing stamps etc.

Oyyy Champagne I wish I could but its this little pesky thing called money I don't got any right now ( so embarrassed to admit).....I've been under the weather with my health this past year and what ever money I have left has ended up paying for medical expenses that I can't even afford but I am still paying off other bills and stuff. And since I've been unemployed for more than a year (due health & thyroid issues) its not easy to just pick up and go to Texas but I really really really do want to go. Maybe when it comes by NY I will make it my business to be there I know I will I love sweeping.....

Maybe u can put $20 a week away toward this thing and try to get a friend to join you so you 2 can split the cost of a hotel.  And then try sweeping for cash/plane tickets to get you to the convention... It would be great if you could make it..... But I do understandin you having these health issues and sorry to.. I hope you get well soon

I was thinking the same thing, Do you think it will come to NY in the near future.
I can't travel to Texas, I use a respirator, and can't fly, I have to bring to much medical equipment.
But if it ever comes to NY, I will be there with bells on! It sounds like a ton of fun!

Maybe next year.

In the past, there has been a northeast sweeps convention.  It may be something for you guys to look into.

I think Sweeps777 and Thumbelina have the right perspective.  Sweeping is a hobby.  Although we would all love to attend the convention, reality must come first.  Sometimes, real priorities get in the way.  With the rising costs of fuel, health care and necessities such as food and electric, many people are not able to do the fun extras.  It's what's know as being an adult!   cry

I just wanted to applaud the two of you for knowing what is important and actually what you are able to do.  If I find info on the Northeast convention, I will let you both know!

I hope those going to the convention have a great time.  For those staying home, win something big!   sunny

I won the money for my registration fee, now all I need to do is win the hotel money which is $438.81 since I have a private room.  Otherwise I may need to get a roommate.
