A letter from Glenn to you February 25, 2009 - 1:05 ET
I made a promise to you and to myself that I would never share something with you that I didn’t believe because your trust and my reputation are too important. My job is to bring you the news and I work hard at finding those stories that aren’t found on the front pages or to present stories from a different perspective or explain them as a series of connected events rather than isolated occurrences.
For several years I have been telling you that I was connecting a series of seemingly unrelated events that were forming a ‘perfect storm’. I told you that America was headed for perilous economic times which would challenge our fortitude, our resiliency and determination. I told you that we were headed for hardships most of us hadn’t experienced in our lifetimes but that we could make it through and although we would be challenged we would not be broken by the storm. Our country, our parents and grandparents faced difficult times and have always emerged stronger. I believe that if we make the right choices America can be better, stronger and more strongly rooted in our core principles and values.
The ‘perfect storm’ message has been tough for me to bring to you. It takes a toll on me and I know it takes a toll on you. Several of my closest friends and colleagues told me that if I didn’t shut-up with all the ‘gloom and doom’ talk my ratings and advertising would suffer—they were right—but I owed it to you to keep bringing you the message, and I did. When I talk about the ‘perfect storm’ and disenfranchisement I do it from a growing sense of concern that our politicians and elected leaders are increasingly out-of-step with everyday Americans. My plea to the politicians is for them to become re-engaged, to return to our core and shared principles and values and to stop the politics of left and right. It’s not designed to stir-up angst or anger but to focus attention on real and growing problems. To those feeling isolated my message is that you are not alone and that we surround them.
This ‘perfect storm’ hasn’t run its course. The government’s determination to fight free-market forces guarantees higher unemployment, more business failures and continued economic contraction. I don’t want that to happen but that’s how I see it. Unfortunately, more good people who have paid their taxes and played by the rules increasingly feel isolated and disenfranchised from their government as they perceive that those who broke the rules get the bailouts while they get stuck with the tab. Civil unrest and demonstrations are already taking place in Iceland, Ireland, Spain and Greece. Police experts are predicting a summer of ‘discontent’ with riots in England and tensions boiling over in more European countries.
I hope and pray that we don’t see that happen there and work tirelessly to prevent it from happening here. I have repeatedly said that, as Americans we need to work within the constitutional framework by seeking out and voting individuals of honor and integrity into office while voting those without a shred of common decency out. Anyone who thinks that I am calling for, wishing for, or hoping for anything more is not listening to the message but is more interested in attacking the messenger.
We ARE a great country. Our best days are ahead of—not behind us. We need to rediscover those principles and values that have always grounded us to goodness and God—because it is there where we will remember that our true strength and power isn’t on Wall Street or the marble halls of Congress but in the hearts of WE THE PEOPLE.

We already knew of the coming collapse in the economy in the '90's and were advised to stock up and make sure we had plenty of necessities on hand for when this was to happen.
I've been keeping well-stocked shelves in the basement since the '90's.
Self-powered items are a good idea like those hand-cranked radios, flashlights, etc.
A generator may come in handy too, first aid kit, etc.
Besides being well-stocked in food, make sure there's plenty of bottled water on hand.

Worse!!! They even said that if we ever got to marshall law, they would probably confiscate people's excess food supplies, store it, and dole it out to the people in little bits. Sounds like it was when my mother grew up in Germany during WWII. They got rationed so much sugar, bread, etc.

I learned all about that years ago.
Have you noticed that they are starting to redo toll booths. I was reading years ago how, just in case, they would need to be able to move military vehicles and equipment through toll areas, they would widen an area for them to be able to fit through.
Sure enough, I see them working on bridges and toll booths in this part of the world. When I go to pick up my boys, I have to cross the Delaware River on a two-lane bridge with a toll booth on the PA side. They're working on the bridge, and they redid the toll booths with a really wide and tall area to get through to the right side.

the crazy part? the look into my eyes part? well.... http://crooksandliars.com/david-neiwert/eyes-glenn-beck-are-upon-youIt's the eyes! The eyes!
I'm not sure what Fox News thought it was getting when it hired Glenn Beck away from CNN, but what they're getting is one serious train wreck of some of the most gobsmackingly weird and embarrassingly maudlin on-air performances in major-network history. Considering that we're talking about Fox here, that's saying something.
On Monday for one of his monologue segments Beck had the camera zoom in on his eyes so people could see them, while another camera kept his headshot in view. It was obvious what they were trying to achieve: Look into his eyes and see his earnest sincerity and you know he's a guy just like you and me and isn't that swell and make you feel better, and doesn't he make sense even when he talks complete lunacy?
Or something like that.
Me, I saw a glassy-eyed fanatic. And I expect a lot of people did. One viewer wrote in to say it looked "creepy" -- and so Beck confessed Tuesday (in the closing segment of the above video) that these shots were his idea. And he goes on to explain why: It's because, gwarsh, we all just need to look each other in the eye.
Which is, of course, as phony as can possibly be, because Glenn Beck isn't looking into anyone's eye when he stares into that camera. He's just pretending to himself that he is. Sort of like how he pretends to himself he can connect with people through their TV sets.
It's all just too weird for me. The crying thing was bad enough, but this kind of stuff is downright creepy indeed.
Oh, and for good measure, he cried again for us yesterday too: http://crooksandliars.com/2007/09/24/glenn-beck-jesus-and-hitler-had-a-lot-in-common/Glenn Beck: "Jesus and Hitler had a lot in common"http://crooksandliars.com/2008/02/17/glenn-beck-if-youre-an-ugly-woman-youre-probably-a-progressive-as-well/ Glenn Beck: if you're an ugly woman, you're probably a progressive as wellhttp://crooksandliars.com/2008/08/07/glenn-beck-bush-is-batmanGlenn Beck: Bush is Batman! "This seems to be a movie that extols some of the conservative viewpoints that we are dealing with terrorists, that you can trust people to make the right decision, that sometimes you have to do things that you don't want to do, and you have to cross lines that you don't want to cross, if you're going to save - if you're going to save your city, in this case it's Gotham.
"But Batman goes into another country and with a C130, snatches a guy out, then throws him back here into Gotham. So there’s rendition! At one point, the Morgan Freeman character says to Batman, 'Wait a minute, hang on...you’re eavesdropping on everyone in Gotham?' And Batman says, 'Yes, to stop this terrorist.' Morgan Freeman says, 'I can’t be a part of it.' And yet Morgan Freeman does become a part of it, and they find the Joker. One of the ways they find the Joker is through eavesdropping. I mean the parallels here of what’s going on is to me stunning."
and many, many more. I dont get my "news" from people like this or limbaugh, hannity, mathews, olberman..etc.. they are not unbiased news reporters.. they all lie, have their own agenda and for the most part talk out their behinds.

I'll admit that some of what he says makes actual sense, but those days are few and far between. Olberman is just as bad, but I enjoy his rantings for what they are...wingnut delusions.

This is why I choose to read all material rather that watch it on tv or listen to it on the news.
Many times, very knowledgeable and insightful people can lose credibility by the way they act or sound.
...and you get the gist of what is really being said by reading it instead.

I can see that. I dont watch media "personalities" really. thats what they are. they are not serious news reporters. none of them. they are like the oprah's of cable news.
