Newbie Here.....So far I have 2 questions...well 1 two parter question.

#1 should I create a bogus email address to use for entry forms?
#1(a) If so do I need to "monitor" messages sent to the bogus email for wins or will I be notified via mail (ie fedex, ups, usps)

Any other useful info would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

Many people create a real, not bogus, email account to use just for sweeping.

You should check your email daily. Each sweep is different. You need to read the rules to see how winner will be notified, and not all sweeps provide this information. Some may say winner will be notified by mail and/or phone, for example, so there are many possibilities.

Often, prizes just show up in your mail box without prior notice, and sometimes they do not even contain a letter telling you where they are from!

If you are concerned about getting a lot of junk email, read each entry form carefully before submitting. There is often a box to check to opt in or opt out of a mailing list/email list. Sometimes, opting in is required. That is one reason it helps to have a separate email account for sweeping.

In addition to checking your email daily, you should check your junk mail to make sure a winning notice did not end up there. After a while, you will be able to tell a real email notice from a fake one (there is information in the forums about this). Many sweeps also tell you to add their address to your safe sender list.

 Waving Welcome to SA amberky

I understand your reluctance to expose yourself to possible risk, but SA doesn't condone nor tell people how to get around the rules.

Some sweeps won't take "throwaway" addys - at least that's what I've heard, my guys use MSN & Hotmail & they've never had a problem that I know of.

TIP: Use an addy you plan to always have - some sponsors only ask you to register 1x & pick a user name and password, which will work for all their FUTURE sweeps. If you change your addy mid-sweeps, it will look like you are trying to enter with multiple addys to them which can get you DQ'ed {disqualified}.

If you pay attention to the rules and read the privacy policies for the various sponsors, in no time you'll know at a glance what your level of comfort is with sharing your info.

Also, the COMMENTS under each sweeps has info we sweepers share with each other, so it's helpful too.
