I received and email this morning stating I had won the American Express Lottery! I have tried to find it on Snopes and it was not listed, as of yet. Although it is everyones dream to win such a prize, I also know most of these are scams. Has anyone else received the email and should it be reported? Although it does not ask for SS# it does ask for info that they should already have.  scratch

I have a feeling that if you check out the sender's email address, it is going to end in ".uk" -- a sure sign it is fake.  Any time I see the word "lottery" I know it is a scam.

sunny I would highly doubt anything that said lottery especially if you didn't purchase a ticket.
FYI:  Did you know that it is illegal under federal law to play any foreign lottery from the United States?  I just found this and thought it was an interesting fact.

What is strange about the email is that it does not show an overseas address; I even tried reversing the address to see who it was really from--nothing! It was ame.exp@att.com. Are these scammers getting smarter or am I losing touch?! scratch

Searching for American Express Lottery & ame.exp@att.com doesn't give links to scam sites, but neither does it validate them.

Asking for info they already have is common for sweeps, so that doesn't automatically mean it's a scam, but the word Lottery IS a big red flag:

Names matter - sweeps are free & easy to enter, contests require an extra step, and Lotteries are NOT in the same realm since:

A lottery is a form of gambling which involves the drawing of lots for a prize
