I dont know if this is happening because I just recently started entering sweepstakes, I have been getting calls from companies wanting me to answer research questions, sometimes they will even block there number. Has anyone else had this problem?

Waving I think it's probabl just a coincidence. Unless you are entering some contests where you may not have unchecked receiving calls/emails from 3rd parties.

I don't think it is a coincidence.. I have had the same thing happen. Also, after I started entering, I got a mysterious virus on my computer and somebody hacked into my Amazon account...   IMO- not a coincidence.  Also,  I have noticed that there are some -not so nice- people on these boards that will shoot down everything you say, so just let it role off your back... I, too, think it is a coincidence, or your missing unchecking a box about 3rd party offers.  I have been entering online for years and don't have the problem of phone calls, computer viruses, or account hacking.  It just comes down to vigilence ... carefully looking at an entry form before hitting submit, keeping anti virus up-to-date, and changing password every so often.  I have not noticed people shooting down everything someone says, and being not so nice.....  I think everyone here is pretty great!  Not everyone always agrees about everything and not everyone has the same experiences, and when someone makes a post there will be different opinions, which to me isn't shooting down someone, it is just giving their personal observations.  Anyway, good luck all!

The phonecalls are abit annoying, I agree.  If you recognize the number, don't pick-up - they always tend to call at the same automated times.  But on another note, don't rule out the one phonecall that may be the big prize you've been waiting for, either.

But what can overlooked by some sweepers, is the fact that the rules 'do' state you have to agree to receive the newsletter/updates, etc. and some rules further state that if you ever unsubscribe, you'll be disqualified from the sweeps.

I've never had an issue with a virus (my protection is heavy)... and everyone on this forum has been amazing.

If anyone is attacking you/your opinions here at SA, please let one of mods know - that is not allowed:

As to where hackers get your info from?

I understand seeing a connection, but as noted, it also happens to people that don't sweep, so it's unfair to falsely accuse sweeps, so we push back on the notion that sponsors would allow that to happen, or even facilitate it, because there is no proof.  Smile
