I think it's probabl just a coincidence. Unless you are entering some contests where you may not have unchecked receiving calls/emails from 3rd parties.

I, too, think it is a coincidence, or your missing unchecking a box about 3rd party offers.  I have been entering online for years and don't have the problem of phone calls, computer viruses, or account hacking.  It just comes down to vigilence ... carefully looking at an entry form before hitting submit, keeping anti virus up-to-date, and changing password every so often.  I have not noticed people shooting down everything someone says, and being not so nice.....  I think everyone here is pretty great!  Not everyone always agrees about everything and not everyone has the same experiences, and when someone makes a post there will be different opinions, which to me isn't shooting down someone, it is just giving their personal observations.  Anyway, good luck all!

As to where hackers get your info from?

I understand seeing a connection, but as noted, it also happens to people that don't sweep, so it's unfair to falsely accuse sweeps, so we push back on the notion that sponsors would allow that to happen, or even facilitate it, because there is no proof.
