I have been wondering if anyone has any knowledge or a guess why it sometimes takes so long between a drawing and the notification of a winner. Some are very fast, I am sure....but some sweeps say the drawing is say the 10th of the month and the notification is on or about the 30th (just an example....not a real sweep). But I just saw one that says drawing Jan 10 and notification Jan 15th. I have seen as much as a month between drawings and notification dates!

Any ideas?

I assume it depends on how long they want to give themselves to verify the winner followed the rules.

I'm sure it depends on a lot of things. Some make sure all the entries are valid and kill off duplicates before doing their drawings and give themselves time for that. Some (like a lot of magazine sweeps) offer a prize from another company, and it's the other company's responsibility to notify the winners and coordinate delivery so there's time buffer built in for that. A lot of sponsors do the whole giveaway through a third-party marketing/fulfillment company.

For something that's setup on the internet, there seems to be a lot of hands-on work that's done around notification and prize fulfilment.

I think you are right. I think it is a busy business with lots of details that we may be unaware of. Especially for those that do multiple contests....and involiving more than one company, as you say. Thanks!  Waving
