I'm maybe 5-6 weeks into my journey with sweeps/giveaways, etc. I don't remember the date actually. Was wondering how you all approach unlimited entry sweeps. You can answer as general or as detailed as you want, obviously. Don't want anyone giving their secrets away! LOL  laughing

I'm reminded of a post on another site by an individual that wanted the prize so badly that he had over 100,000 entries and didn't win.  I'm also reminded of the sweep promoted by Susie Orman.  There was to be one winner of a large sum of money (20,000 ? ?).  Folks would spend hours just trying to log on as the entry site was down for days on end due to inability to handle the volume.

There are folks who'll enter 24/7 to win if they consider the prize worth it.  That kind of competition is just a bit much for my tired old fingers, so I rarely enter them, and on the rare occasion that I do I treat the sweep as  a daily.

It only takes one entry to win, right?

Thanks, Curmudgeon!  Waving I agree....it's a lot of work...and I am definitely not someone who would do anywhere *near* 24/7! Do people really do that? LOL Well, there are always the pee breaks and the nod offs  sleepy....LOL!  laughing

I treat the unlimited entry sweeps like daily sweeps.  I *might* enter 2 or 3 times, but that's about it.  Once a day is good enough for me.  I love sweeping, but I've got other things to do also, haha.

Hi Melanie. Yes,.....it's difficult to motivate yourself to spend hours doing one or two unlimited contests when there are other things to do and other contests. Maybe if it were $20,000, I might invest a little more time....but I could never do it for hours at a time....so if there are people that do, they have it all over me!  Smile However, like Curmugeon said....if we are lucky, one entry is all that it could take....the right entry at the right time with the right number attached? LOL

I bookmarked an unlimited entry as a daily {daily prize} and won, and I literally OCD'd an UL for hours on end, day after day, and didn't win, so now I just enter and forget it  crazy tongue

However, I might bookmark an hourly or UL that has a really good prize/prize pool and hit it a few times a day - it really depends on how many I'm entering at the time, and how many of those are true PITA's - FLASH/multiple steps/etc.

sunny I usually just put the unlimited in my dailys and enter. I try not to get too obsessive over any of them since one entry is all it takes to win sometimes.

Thanks Amy and PMeek. Yeah...I can see that the PITA entries would make me slow down the obsessive streak. I try harder when I really like the prize. I keep the ones with the desirable prizes open in their own tab and try to hit them up every so often....but that has only been with 2-3 so far.

It's funny - when I started {online - I did snails in the 80's} I was spending all of my online time entering sweeps.

I didn't really realize there were forums for other than posting "I won", so I garnered all my info from the listing and the comments for 6 months. I literally lived there!!!

When I finally hit, at the typical 6 month mark, I just remembered - it was an UL IW!!!  crazy tongue It was one where you rated a business for an IW chance, and someone had asked if we'd vote for her family business, so I did & won - I about fell out, I was so shocked!!!

That experience, combined with observing patterns once I started visiting the forums, led me to devise the sweepers credo. And it's why I share info so freely {my sis says I should charge, lol  whistle } I went through the usual cycle - thinking some people *must* know something I didn't because they were *always* posting a win, to thinking I *must* be blackballed, since I couldn't seem to win all the time like others seemed to.

Once I figured out I only had control of what *I* did, I let it go, and sweeping became fun again, instead of a chore where I dreaded entering but felt compelled to do it everyday.

Then I took off a few days - went on a trip for our anniversary - and instead of being stressed, I felt refreshed!!!

Now I typically take at least a day off each week - usually when I catch myself doing "busywork" and avoiding filling out the forms.  crazy tongue

I've seen far too many "I entered a daily just once - the last day - and I won"

I actually won an ipod from a 1x that had started 4 months before I entered it {on the last day, of course  whistle } that was giving away 200 or 400 away per month, so the earlier you entered, the better your chances. Boy, were those who entered on day 1 mad at me, lol!!!  laughing

Good input, Amy. I try not to take it all too seriously....but I do try harder with certain things, when it just shoots into my brain that "I should"! LOL What is IW? I don't have the abbreviations down yet. LOL You struck your big one at 6 months, Amy? Was that the $10,000?  I remember the PCH snail mail. Seems nice and benign...Now, well, they are the one of the few that have been rather stalking, IMO. Some things do change.
