Am new to sweeping.  Just started in December.  My question is when it shows, for instance, that a certain sweeps has l00 hits, does this mean that 100 people have entered or could it possibly mean that 10 people have entered 10 times?

It shows the number of hits. If there are 100 hits, there are not necessarily 100 entries. You could look at the sweep without entering.

I think it just shows the total number of hits, so yes, 1 person could have entered 100 times, or 10 people could have entered 10 times. Or 100 people could have looked, but only 90 actually entered.

I look at it like a general guide. Lots of hits means lots of entries, but we don't know how many are repeat entries by the same person.

The other thing is that it only shows that hits from this site. It is not showing all the entries people have made that are not using the Sweepstakes Advantage site.
