Heres the problem:
When my sister opens her IE, the page goes to an Antiviruspro2009 ad that will not let her advance to any other site.(Asks for 200.00 to fix the problem..geeshhh) She has run antivirus (Norton, McAfee(?), and AVG.) AVG picks it up, and she wants it moved to vault as AVG says unable to heal. But when she reboots..the ad is still there . When she searches files/folders..the name does not show up, and it is not in add/remove either. It is just there when she opens IE.Can she do a XP install over the old program and take care of this problem? Seeing she cannot get anywhere to download a removal tool?
Or does she uninstall everything?..then reload everything? And if so, can somebody help me explain how to do that?
I hope I explained this right..I only get the over the phone version myself..LOL
Thanks for any help ahead of time.

hey Pam  Waving

Sounds like a nasty cootie  nono - she should do a hijackthis log and get help:

Announcement: Virus/Trojan/Spyware Help & HijackThis Instructions ~ DO NOT POST A HJT LOG W/OUT READING ! Update 10/18/08
http://forums.g4tv.com/ann.jspa?annID=139

Have her post there {free to register/post} after reading & following the instructions in that thread - she can use my name {amyshulk} if she'd like - they might remember me laughing

They can help her pinpoint whatever nasties are on her comp - fyi, they consider sweeps cookies/progs as iffy, so they'll suggest she remove those too, but it's not necessary {usually - if one of them is infected...}
