with the intention of turning down the grand prize? I have no interest in most of the vacations or cars but really like the other prizes. I was wondering if any one else does this and if you have ever won the grand prize and had to turn it down. Hope this question hasn't been asked recently, I did a search first.

They do it all the time!   scratch  Either they don't read what they are entering, don't care what they are entering, or do it just for fun.  It is a nuisance for the promotion company, others that enter, and often results in the grand prize not being awarded at all.  Just plain rude.

I am afraid I am one of those "rude" people.  I am unable to travel, however the smaller prizes are lovely.  And knowing how unlikely it is that I would ever win the Grand prize, I do enter hoping to win a smaller prize.  It's too bad that prizes are usually non-transferable because I have grown children and grand children that would love to take the vacations.  I am sorry if I upset you and probably others also Loren Brothers.  But as I said, it is highly unlikely that I will ever win a Grand prize.  I take your comments with a good heart and no hard feelings.  Good luck to you and all.   cheers

Due to health reasons and being financially destitute, I cannot accept vacations (or cars due to no money to pay taxes, etc., etc.) but the other prizes could be money or something else I truly need. So for those who do have to go to the doctor and have tests run every few weeks (with no insurance) and struggle to pay bills those are the people who are most likely entering to win the "other" prizes. It is much more unlikely to win the grand prize than the first, second, and so on prizes as westdjc expressed. JMHO, no offense please.

I wish there was a way to enter for ONLY the lower tier prizes and/or the GP - especially when the GP is so different from the lower tier prizes!!!

Since there isn't, I will only enter those types if there are LOTS of lower tier prizes and I would like to win most, if not all of them.

I do wonder at those that enter for the GP {ie - the GP is the ONLY prize} but figure they entered and their circumstances changed so they had to turn it down.

I often enter for second prize (etc), I also don't travel, but would like 2nd prize,so I enter, I don't see any thing wrong with that. If you do, then, to bad,for you. If I win grand and you win 1st, I will trade you minus taxes etc., and if you don't like that, I am sorry about your bad luck.

heck yes, no way I'd go to the filming of the Ellen DeGenerate show or a WhiteTrashCar event; but, I'd sure pocket the spending money; or better yet win the HDTV given as 1st prize

I forgot to add - if the rules state that they will NOT redraw if the GP is turned down, I pass on it.

I think the real issue is when the GP is the ONLY prize and the winner turns it down - it does seem rude, however, most that post say WHY they HAD to turn it down.

When people enter to win 1 of the {usually} numerous lower tier prizes and then wins the GP & turns it down, I'm just glad I've dodged that bullet - so far!!!  laughing
