We just got back from our vacation and we took our van to the coast with us.  We noticed while we were down there that our brakes were starting to squeal ~ is this due to the salty mist in the air or are our brakes just old and need replacing???  This is the first time we have ever drove our vehicle to the coast ~ we have always rented before, so any input would be helpful!!  And yes, you can laugh at me if it is a stupid question laughing Booty crazy tongue

 laughing laughing laughing

I doubt it has anything to do with the sand/saltwater.  Now, is it a squeal or is it the warning sound that you need new brakes?  Bring it to Midas or Spartan.  They usually will give you a free brake analysis.

Good luck.  If you need brakes, I hope it's just the pads!

Are you kidding ~ take it somewhere to get it looked at???  Jimmie will be taking it apart and looking at them himself.  We don't have anything "worked on".  I love the money we save, but I hate having to wait to have things done sometimes!!

When I drove alot we were always doing brake work.  laughing we lived in florida but dont think it had anythig to do with the sand/salt. more likely a lead foot and using the brakes at the last minute.  laughing I hope he fixes it for ya soon. you dont want the rotors to get messed up because its gone on to long.

Okay ~ now that I have asked, he has changed his story to the brakes grabbing, not squeaking.  MEN!!!!  I am getting ready to tell him that EVERYTHING is caused by salt water and I need a new van!!!
