I was charged for Premium Text Messaging from some site I must have put my cell number on without reading the fine print when I first started to use SA.
I just got my phone bill from Verizon and on two separate occasions
 1/25/07 @ 9:20pm
and 2/25/07 @11:16am, both Sundays I got text messaged. I thought worst case it would be the price of a normal text message when I retrieved them ie. .50 each.

The text messages werebilled through a 3rd party and cost me $19.99 each.
The phone company says they are valid and I have to pay them. Has anyone ever had a similar experience. The first message said something about "Slim Lizard". I want to avoid using these websites in the future.

I have never had that problem either and I always use my cell number.  

Make really sure you opt out of everything before you hit submit.

It looks like my eleven year old probably went to this slim lizard site or one of their ads on another page and put in my cell number and name. In effect she signed up for 15 credits for ring tones , games etc for the cell phone @ 19.99/mo. She must have signed up on 1/25. so we paid for the two months of this service. I have till 3/25 to use the @nd $19.99 worth of credits but I already stopped text messaging to my phone with my carrier, so I'm just going to write this off.

So my only advice is don't let your kids start trying to contest. That's what she claimed she was doing. These companies are slimy alright, all you have to do is put your cell number in the blank and you're signed up!!
You have to text them a stop message to unsubscribe.

Oh well, live and learn.
