Yesterday, I was picking up some salad fixings and something to put up for my kids for valentine's day. We got up to the checkout and this child age 5 or 6 kept repeatedly yelling to my husband and I "Ya'll get out of here, get out of here now!" and the mother turned around after the 3rd time and told her to stop. Then, the lady starts holding up the line to play with a "play cell phone", now, I am normally patient but, by that time I was just annoyed.

Not even a minute later? The little girl turns to us again, starts shaking her head in circles and says "I already have one of those and Iiiiiiii got a teddy bear. You can't have none...blah blah blah blah" and I am telling you, she said it ruder than anything. You would have had to be there. I looked at the mother who didn't care that her child was being rude to everyone, not to mention the fact that she kept playing with toys instead of messing with her groceries or tending to her children and although I should have ignored that little girl, I told her "I don't want anything you have". I know, childish on my part but, ugh! My children have never treated strangers this way, I wish people would teach children respect. I am sick and just wasn't in the mood.

Anyways, the mother looked at me and I gave her a look back. At that time she told her daughter "Stop it or you are going to get a spankin" and then proceeded to reward her with a new toy and treat before she was even done paying for her items. The little girl kept saying things. No wonder, she knows she will receive rewards either way!*Shaking head*

popcorn It's really too bad for the little girl. Sounds like she is craving for attention. Her mother will be sorry someday when the little girl becomes a big girl with a big mouth!!  laughing

You are so right and her mother will deserve it for not even trying to control her child. I mean, sometimes all kids act this way but, as a mother I would do my best to stop it. I would be mortified if my kids acted this way.

Don't worry, you'll probably see her again in a few years.  ON the news or the local newspaper for getting kicked out of school, or arrested or some fun thing like that.  Parenting is not for the weak hearted.  !!!!  You had more restraint than I would have had.

I hate to see kids getting rewarded for bad behavior.  nono    Mom is turning her into a little brat.   I know its easier just to give into them but it is never the right thing to do.  mom will find out when the little girl is a teenager. oh, boy.

Many of the  kids at the clinic I go to act pretty "out there"-but I think its difficult for parents to figure out how to discipline a kid who is seriously or even fatally ill. Plus most of the kids are on lots of drugs, and steroids make me yell at people.  laughing Usually I just chase them down and get my glasses back. I don't know what it is about glasses and small kids, but I've had mine snatched off my face a lot. Whenever a kid comes at me now I grab my glasses... error

I hate when parents are so strict on their kids when they are around and then when they turn their backs the kids go wild!  We had several kids at school that act perfect when the parents are around but let that parent leave the room and the kids go beserk!!!  I had one kid come to my house and he actually hung from our gasline in the basement nono

Both of these kids grew up and had drug problems ~ I hated it for the parents that really never saw it coming.  They just thought their kids were so well behaved.  It was sad!

Cin, I swear, I'll be sitting there in the waiting room minding my own business and and here comes a small child and-snatch. Then I have to play "follow the bouncing blur" to reclaim my glasses back while some parent ineffectually bleats "honey, give the nice lady her glasses" in the background. You'd think they could chase the kid down and tackle them and wrest the glasses from their sticky grip instead of leaving it to the blind lady...but noooo....  crazy tongue

Well, that's because most children are brought up now lacking morals, values, discipline, and respect.

How often these days do you hear children address their elders respectfully with Mr., Mrs., or Miss?

My kids were brought up to!  They were also brought up to open doors for others and to say please and thank you!  I'm not saying that they are perfect, but they do act respectful out in public!  I've gotten many  compliments on them which always makes me feel good, but I just think it is a sad commentary on society when you have to give compliments on children opening doors for others or saying "thank you"!  If you start them when they are young it is habit and second nature for them!  I wish all kids were brought up that way now!!

The kid I sweep for (Caleb) is polite and nice. But he is only 9. When he's 16 he may be knocking over convience stores...I hope not, since he is such a talented little musician him turning into a thug would be a real waste... nono

How about rude adults in the store, too.  Yesterday a woman RAMMED me with her shopping cart and looked at me as if it was my fault.  Some people have no respect or manners and that is unfortunately where the children learn it from.

People at Wal-Mart are the worst ~ I hate going in there!  People try to make you mad!  They will block both sides of the aisle at once and just stand there and TALK!  I understand that you see everyone you have ever known in there, but move it to the end of the aisles people!!  Even if I am looking at something and see someone waiting I will move to let them look and then move back ~ there is no reason to make people wait if they know what they are getting.

And it doesn't matter when I go ~ it could be 3:00 with 12 feet of snow on the ground and I would have one person that would be following me from aisle to aisle and wanting just exactly where I was at the moment!!!!!  Especially is I am on my period and am close to poking out someones eyes ~ it is like they are just daring me!  I don't step foot in Wal-Mart during that time anymore ~ I was going to end up in jail for flogging someone to death on aisle 12 cussing

I can assure you all that when I do finally snap:  It will be in Wal Mart.  I swear I have considered going to the doctor to get a prescription for valium just so I can take it before I go to Wal Mart.  Of course I don't have to shop there but if you are looking for the best bargains - that's the place to go.  I tell my girls "Let's get in the zone" before we walk thru the doors.  I think if you are one of those people that don't believe there is a hell -  you should just hang out in WalMart for a couple of hours!  Hell surely can't be any worse. crazy tongue

About rude people, my son and I went out to eat one day.  Coming out the door I opened it and a man squeezed between me and my son and actually stepped on my foot, turned around and gave ME a dirty look and is kid was right behind him and squeezed through too. What happened to ladies first especially when I was the one in front and opened the xxxxx door. People have a lot of nerve.  Speaking of WalMart, I usually want to start ramming people with the cart before I'm through in there, HATE the place.

What is it about wal mart? I have never been in one that by the time I left I didn't want to strangle someone.  Especially if I go to the cleaning isle. I get a headache and am not very pleasant.  The one up here isnt as bad as the one in fl we went to. Here atleast the workers are somewhat friendly. down there they were as bad as the rude customers.  my pet peeve is people with 50 items in the twenty or less.  cussing  I always say something.  laughing

I worked for Walmart for 15 years and I have to tell ya...if you think it is bad being a customer you should see how people treat the people that work there, I have seen the absolute worst of people and everyday I would go home so angry because of the way I was treated by people...they made it so hard to be nice to them some days.. I have been rammed with more carts then I can count, I have been called every name in the book by people because we didnt have something in stock. Now that I dont work there anymore I rarely go in there unless I absolutely have to...and if people are rude to me I am rude back because I dont work there anymore....it is so great to be able to tell someone off when they are rude! LOL nono

several of my SIL's work for walmart and some of the stories they tell. omg!.. Its funny in a way but also sad that some people treat others like nonsense because they know that the person needs the job and isnt going to say anything.  The worse stories are the ones about returns. people trying to return used underwear and all kinds of stuff. grossssssss!..
