Wow, I just found out that carob is traditionally eaten on Tu B’shevat. I seriously need a copy of Judiasm for Dummies.

Don't forget that the "Congrats" start all over again when someone posts under "Mailman Alert" when they receive their prize.

I like reading when others get their prizes. That way If I won also I know its coming. I also like to congratulate other members.I dont see what the big deal is. If you dont want to read them.. dont.. if you dont want to post congrats.. dont. If it bothers someone they dont have to go into that particular section of the forum. There are several sections here I avoid.

Ok, I am all about congratulating members in the winners circle. I wish I had more time to do it. But, I always viewed the mailman alert forum to be just that, announcing what came in the mail to alert others that the prizes/freebies/coupons were on the way. It's more of an informative area and not the place to announce wins.
So, in my opinion, wins should be announced in the winners circle and the congratulations should be in the winners circle thread. The mailman thread should be to announce the arrivals of prizes and a place for questions if people haven't received theirs yet...

There's nothing wrong with that, but that wasn't the point brought up. I believe LB's concern that there was so much of it going on, that those were mainly the threads constantly coming up in "Recent Posts", pushing any other topics of conversation into oblivion. The humor and joking around here has to do with those people who just post a "congrats" just for the sake of getting their post count up, most of which probably don't even read the OP. I have no idea what they expect to happen by having a higher post count though! ...and Wolfie just cut in line! Congratulations!

LIDARKSIDE hit the nail on the head. All I really would like to do is come to the forum and be able to read "new" posts with out having to wade through 40-50 topic congrats* in order to find them. I really like reading the new posts ... I just don't like trying to find them. I believe everybody deserves to have their original postings read. Unfortunately, I don't bother most of the time because ... well ... I just don't have the time. When I open up the "winners circle" area I am usually greeted by a list of "unread topics" of about 30/40/50 items. And all the new postings are by the same person. Have I read this one or that one yet? I guess if I posted to each and every post I would know! Now that I did my "gripe/vent" I really do feel a lot better. If the GTB's would consider my suggestion of putting a "NEW TOPICS" link up on the top of the forum, that would solve my problem at least. One gets to read every new post and if one feels they want to stay up on the tread they can always 'tag' it to be notified of new replies. That way everybody is happy. AND Anybody who wants to paste can paste to their little-hearts-content Loren * I've decided to add that word to my purple list

I wish I could post wins, but my stalker would annoy the JAs. Lord knows they have enough problems. So I *cough* haven't won a thing, not one single thing.

See I feel guilty when I don't have time to go in and write everyone a personal note...I haven't been posting hardly any lately anyway...I don't have time:(
Ditto!!! I so agree with this statement!! Everyone here is soooo nice to congratulate me even on my smallest of wins and I so want to reply back to everyone...However I just don't have the time. There are so many winners here that if I were to congratulate them all I would never be able to enter the sweeps... With that, I will now say to all winners (past/present and future): Congratulations!!! And...To those who have yet to win I wish you nothing but good luck

OK...I am confused here.....I rec'd an unexpected win in the postal mail the other day and I posted about it in the mail section...My post was moved into the winner's section What did I do wrong???? Yes it was a win...However it came unexpectedly by way of postal mail...It wasn't an instant win or a win notification by way of an email...So my question for future reference is: When you receive an unexpected win via way of postal mail...Where should this be posted?? Seems it could go in either the mail thread and or the winner's thread...I just chose the mail thread as it was an unexpected win by way of postal mail...I saw where someone else posted about an unexpected win they rec'd via postal mail and they posted in the mail thread and their post was not moved to the winner's thread??? Please offer some clarification on this as I don't want to upset the flow of the forum...Thank-You

I certainly like knowing when folks are getting unexpected wins via mail. It lets me know when to start checking the bushes/steps/porch more carefully. Not that I ever win anything Thank you for posting. Hopefully someone will clarify the post location issue.

I think it's great when people congratulate each other. It's nice to see how kind SA members are. I don't always congratulate everyone but I try some days.
I guess it's exciting to win and it's great that others can celebrate with you.

I didn't know that, thanks for clarifying.

Announcement of wins should be made in the winners circle. If it is from a contest that has many prizes you can put an alert in the mail forum. Most people check the winners circle for announcement of wins. They do it for many reasons. Obviously, they do it to offer congratulations, maybe some to scowl because you won the prize they wanted but many actually check it to see if there are winners from certain sponsors to gage whether or not to keep entering the contests. Most only check the mail forum to see what prizes are coming in like instants, or freebies... contests with a lot of prizes so they know when to keep an eye on the mail. Hope that helps

Can they be deleted out of the COMMENTS of the new sweeps listed then? I hate having to search through post and posts of 'I WON A FLOWER ARRANGEMENT' just to find a code or UPC code.
When someone wins something, it doesnt need announced on the whole dang board! One thread is enough

lots of members never make it to the forums. They only post in the comments. sometimes it is helpful to see what times people are winning.
