http://www.blogher.com/cpsia-puts-handmade-toys-and-kids-clothes-danger-extinction-soon

Basically you won't be able to buy or sell most gently used or handmade childrens items and toys unless it has been tested for lead.

I think the idea is a great one (I mean, lead in our childrens' items is obviously not good) but I depend on resale shops for alot of my son's clothing. I just don't have the finances for brand new clothes and toys 100% of the time being a single mom. Also he just grows so darn fast!

I also wonder what will happen to alot of the Etsy shops and the like? The economy is bad enough as it is. This will put more people in hard situations. And what about Goodwill or the Salvation Army? The churches who have rummage sales to generate revenue?

I think there has to be a better and more economically-friendly way to reduce lead risk.

So are you going to be arrested for having a yardsale now?  This is crazy.  We have a local shop that takes in used clothes and employs mentally challenged people that otherwise couldn't hold a job ~ this will basically put them out of business and it is a shame.

Just a fine example of our government deciding what we can and can't do.
