Thanks, everyone, for sharing the sweeps that you find. It's great that the SA community has such terrific members! Here are a few tips to help you out when you're wondering whether or not to post a sweep. Is it already in the database? Try running a Power Search to check. There are links in many places on the site, including the home page. Here's one: http://www.sweepsadvantage.com/power_search.php . On the Power Search page, there are a number of ways you can look up a sweep. I like the URL field best, however, it works best if you just use a unique part of the URL you want to check. (The URL is the http://www.... address). For example - Let's say you notice that Shakefire has added an American Gothic sweep that you think is new. If you type "Shakefire" into a search field, you'll get every single Shakefire sweep, and there are tons of them. In this case, the full URL might work best. Another option, type the most unusual word "gothic" in a search field. Whether or not you get a match depends on how the SA sweep was logged into the database. If you choose to search by title, you can use the regular search rather than the power search, but be careful. It works best if you break up your words. If you look for "Emily Strange" with a space between the words, the system will find all contests with both words in the title. But if you put "EmilyStrange" as one word and it's in the system as two words, the search will miss the match. Hope this helps. Anyone who has any further suggestions, let's hear 'em!

Hi Folks, When posting sweepstakes to the new sweepstakes forum please take a quick search on the site first. This way we keep the duplicates to a minimum and we can post these to the site faster. Here a quick tip on how: 1. Open up Power Search: http://www.sweepsadvantage.com/power_search.php2. In the url field use part of the site's url. For example.. if I wanted to see which contests were listed for Star Magazine I would type "starmag or starmag.com" in the url field. Its pretty easy. Thank You very much! :D

I'm having no luck using the Power search feature. It seems like every link or key word I use returns 0 results.
I've been searching using the expiration date. If the sweep is not listed in that search, I post it.
I apologize in advance if I post a dupe.....I'm tryin' really hard not too.

Hi Kelly, Gosweepwin taught me a fairly reliable way of searching. Using the powersweeps search Use the URL field Type only the MAIN portion of the url in the field Here's an example http://www.amberleaves.com/amber06sweeps.cfm?source=SweepAdvantageIf I was wanting to do a powersweeps search on this I would only input amberleaves into the url search field. This works MOST of the time. Sometimes a sweeps will have more than one entry point or the page listed will be the site page and not the entry page or vise versa & they may have entirely different addresses & not show up in your search depending upon which one you use.

Hiya red60 gosweepwin taught me the same thing....only when I do it, I still don't get any results most the time. Once in awhile, the search will return with the sweep in question. When that happens, I feel so good, I start cheering and clapping! :D
Using the power search feature, I will...
put in the keywords or link in the URL box, select catagory and then list expiration date. If nothing shows up, I'll do an expiring soon search and bring up all the sweeps using the end date. Then, I'll run through the list to see if it's listed or not.
I've had more success doing it that way....hopefully I won't post a dupe, but if I do, then I'll have to
GO TO JAIL, GO DIRECTLY TO JAIL. DO NOT PASS GO. DO NOT COLLECT $200
thanks for your input...appreciate all the help I can get...especially with me being in the infancy stage of learning to use all the functions here.
good luck with your sweepin'...hope you win lots of goodies!

As admin says, it's easy to do a search - here's what I do:
1) Power Sweeps search: put in the prize description. Especially if it is a one of a kind prize! Instead of searching for "guitar", which gave me 61 hits, search for "Daisy Rock guitar" - which gave me 1 hit - or whatever type it is. The less you search for, the better, so don't C&P the prize from the entry form or rules - break it down. I've had great success searching that way 8)
2) Latest or New Sweepstakes forum: check before you post if you don't find it listed: Same principle - take a main word from the title - the less common, the better. You can also use the EDIT feature in IE:
EDIT>FIND(On this Page)>in pop up box type your search word and keep clicking find next until it tells you it's finished or you find a post that matches.
Once you get "grooved in", this will save you lots of time, and reduce duplicate posts. 8)

Bumping to remind our wonderful members who post sweeps to: Post as much info as you can in the new sweepstakes forum: Here is a template: Name: Url: Expires: Restrictions: After you've done a search to make sure you aren't wasting your time posting a sweeps already listed And for those that wonder how to tell if a sweeps has been added to pending/listed? We change the title of the thread, adding a + sign if we've added it/it's already listed, and a - sign if we can't add it - like if there are no rules. Those sweeps that haven't started yet are marked with ** with the start date and are stickied. Thanks again for posting sweeps, we do appreciate you selfless members who share!!!

Another tip - please do an expired search for those well-known sites - odds are one of our editors has them on their "list" and will be adding them so a forum post is not required. If you know of a daily sweeps that hasn't been added by the 2nd week of the month, then please do post - we appreciate the help!!!
