20 min. today.

Health Tip of the Day
Mending Moods
Growing Healthy

Ask any gardener and they will tell you that gardening is an excellent way to relieve stress and depression. Gardening programs are also being used with the mentally impaired, physically handicapped, aged, and mentally ill as a form of therapy. Gardening enables people to build confidence, develop a sense of being needed, and a purpose in life, all of which promote good health.

No exercise again today (none for the last 2 days).

Still trying to fight off that awful cold!

I love gardening - I am going to have to make time for it again.

I also love gardening especially when springtime comes around. I was fighting a sinus infection the last couple days and I used echinacea. I try and stay away from any meds. This really did the trick for me. But only use herbs after doing research into them.

I have to start working out and eating better.  When I bought my Wedding Dress, I bought it a size too small (on purpose)....  Tonight I'm going to this class at the gym:

Step:  Cardiovascular workout that incorporates the use of an adjustable height bench. Choreography will vary and some classes will incorporate 2 or 4 benches.

Sounds interesting. Let me know what you thought of the class. I know you will get into that dress and you will be a beautiful bride.

Walked to the barn, in the snow, with two canes to feed the cat and kittens some idiot dumped out. They ran out in the snow and hopped around on their little kitten feet going "eeek, eeek what is this cold stuff?" By the end of the walk my feet (and cane tips) were large balls of frozen mud. So that should count as walking and weight training laughing

Health Tip of the Day
Mending Moods
Your Mind Affects Your Body

A good deal of research is now looking at the relationship between one's emotional state and the likelihood of becoming physically ill. A study conducted at John Hopkins University School of Medicine found that healthy adults possess the following characteristics: Positive relationships with their parents during childhood, strong self-esteem, optimism, minimal depression, and an ability to cope with stress

Big Pinch Of Trouble

Those who think smokeless tobacco is a safe alternative to cigarette smoking are in for a rude awakening. Using smokeless tobacco quadruples the risk of oral cancer and increases the likelihood of heart disease, hypertension, stroke, and kidney disease.

Health Tip of the Day
The Foods You Chews
Foods That Fight Cavities

Most people know that sticky sweets promote tooth decay, but they may not be aware that some foods actually prevent tooth decay. These foods counteract the acids in the mouth that wear down tooth enamel. Tooth saving foods include: Cheese, peanut butter, nuts and seeds, meat, fish, poultry, eggs, olives, and dill pickles.

Watch that peanut butter.

Health Tip of the Day
Major Medical Conditions
Women And Heart Attacks

Although more men experience heart attacks than women, women's attacks are usually more severe and twice as likely to be fatal. In addition, women don't do as well after bypass surgery. As an outgrowth, women, no matter what their age, should make extra special efforts to reduce the major heart disease risk factors-smoking, obesity, high cholesterol, hypertension, stress, and inactivity.

Spicy foods do not cause ulcers as is commonly believed. Physicians do not usually restrict a patient's diet when they have an ulcer, except for alcohol and beverages containing caffeine as they stimulate acid production.

The Age Wave

Presently, people over the age of 65 make up over 13% of the population compared to only 6.8% in 1940. Fifty years from now, that figure is expected to increase to 20%. This predicted increase in longevity is due to better treatment and an emphasis on preventive medicine.

Health Tip of the Day
Mending Moods
Do You Suffer From Sleepyheaditis

Many people have trouble getting up in the morning, but this problem becomes intensified during the winter months. This may be due to the body's internal timer that uses sunlight as a signal to wake up. During dark and dreary winter mornings, the body may not receive the triggers to get out of bed. If this is a problem for you, turn your bedroom lights on as soon as the alarm goes off or hook them up to a timer that will turn them on.

Don't feel like working out today I need motivation LOL

General Information
Year Round Sun Alert

Summer is over but it's still important to protect your skin from the sun's harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays in fall and winter. Continue to use a sunscreen with a sun protective factor (SPF) of at least 15 when doing outdoor activities, such as walking, jogging, or raking leaves. Do the same when you ski, sled, or engage in other outside winter sports.

Health Tip of the Day
Safety First
Hold The Call

Talking on the telephone can be quite hazardous in certain situations. Avoid using a telephone when you are near water, such as a bath tub, swimming pool, or shower. If you should drop the phone into the water, it could cause an electric shock. Also, don't use the telephone during an electrical storm as an electric surge could occur.

Sleep May Be Colored

If you suffer from insomnia, the problem may be the color of your bedroom walls. Research reported in "New Body Magazine" found that rooms painted with harsh, bright colors can cause restlessness, an inability to sleep, and even nightmares. The best colors for bedrooms are soft pastel shades which produce feelings of tranquility.

took a "body attack" class on Tuesday night at the gym.  HATED IT!  It was very old school aerobic class-as in- jumping up and down and way to much bouncing for someone with breasts larger than an eraser !!!  So, back to the gym floor for some private time between me and my elyptical machine.  How do you spell eliptical machine?  Well, one of those is surely correct.  Anyway, I really do feel better after moving my body!   I taught aerobics for years (step and dance step) and it's alot more fun to just let someone else do the work.  All I have to do is stare at the mirror and zone !!!!!  I love it.
