Never had one "as an adult" per say..... so i book daughter and i an appointment today... she checks out fine which is great... but when it's my turn...

Far-Sighted!!  what the *&(*????????? i started to notice that i squint at the tv and computer so i thought i'd book appointments... well, the frames, lens and tests costs $244.  Insurance paid $175.  Ummm, yea... That's what I said....

I'd gladly take that kind of coverage on glasses. A couple of years ago I thought I'd save a bundle for my new glasses and take care of my nieces need for new glasses by using one of those same-day "buy one get a second pair free" places. Well they fail to mention that the frames alone start at $200 until after you've been examined. Then there's the lenses, anti-scratch, uv and anti-glare coatings and protection plan. None of which is mentioned up front THEN they tell me that MY prescription is going to take a week to make but my nieces will be done in an hour.  Basically, they wound up costing me $500 for the two pairs even though one was "free". I could have gone to LensCrafters and got two pairs in a couple of hours for that price. I miss having insurance. With my bad eyesight that's only getting worse, the cost is going to keep rising.

sorry you need glasses..  I have to buy for three kids and have insurance and its more than 244.00.      I know its a cost you werent expecting but atleast insurance picked up most of it.  once again .. looking at the bright side. hey, maybe this will become a trend for me.   

I've had eye problems since I was little. They corrected when I was an adult and now, I'm starting to have a few problems again. I don't have insurance so when I take my kids to see the eye doctor (They both wear glasses for 2 different reasons) on the 9th, I'm going to ask him if he can fit me in somehow and if it's possible to make payment arrangements. The school my children go to sent in a form to the Lions club, they are paying for my children to get eyeglasses and exams. I thought that was really nice of them to do for us. We qualified based on our income levels.
