Ever wonder about privacy when allowing applications to enter Sweeps/IWG's on Facebook? Or wonder if you're still allowing access long after a Sweep has ended? Here's an excellent link giving step by step instructions on how to delete applications.

http://romcartridge.blogspot.com/2010/01/how-to-remove-facebook-applications.html

Once a Sweep or IWG ends I always delete the application since I no longer want or need to allow access to my information.  Waving

This:

Tropicana.com - (Facebook) Trop50 Sweepstakes
Grand Prize (50) 12 coupons each redeemable for one free 59 oz. bottle of Trop50, ARV $59.88. First Prize (400) one coupon redeemable for one free 59 oz. bottle of Trop50, ARV $4.99.
Restrictions : 18+ US | Limit : 1 Per Person / Email Per Day | Added : 09-13-11 | Expires : 12-31-2011 | Hits : 5996 | Rules

Entry Category : Instant Win Sweepstakes

Has problems. It didn't start working until 9/26, and still doesn't work for many of us.

From their WALL From Monday:

"Thanks again for patiently awaiting the return of our Instant Win Game. The game is now available at http://on.fb.me/nxrAjG until Dec. 31, 2011. PLEASE NOTE: there is still a Facebook issue that may randomly impact a very small percentage of users. For help, please visit the discussion board we've set up at http://on.fb.me/nxfEIo"

Another person posted this on their WALL:

"You can only play if you already LIKE Trop50. So, if you UNLIKE Trop50 and LIKE again, then the Instant Win game works"

And I realized I didn't know how, so I did a search, and found:

Amy, there's a far easier way to UNLIKE a Facebook Page:

Bring up the FB page you want to unlike, scroll down and look for the following options on the left:

    Create a Page
    Get Updates via SMS
    Get Updates via RSS
    Unlike
    Report Page
    Share

Click 'Unlike' and you're done!

Btw, some current Bud Light promotions have the same problem as Trop's did that you mentioned, so this is a much more convenient way to deal with it  Smile

Getting: "Secure browsing is not supported."

TRY:

sunny Try this to get access to the FB pages that you are having trouble with:
Look to the top right for the downward arrow to the right of Home
Click arrow and a drop down menu appears
  Click on Account Settings
Click on Security on the left side of page
In about the center of the page you will see Secure Browsing - change from enabled to disabled
Click on the Save Changes at the bottom of the page

You should be good to go!

Also check the address - if it says

https://www.facebook.com

Delete the S and reload the page to get:

http://www.sweepstakesplus.com/smf/another-question-about-facebook-contests-t80596.0.html

I entered FB contests all the time but lately I've seen where I have to allow whoever it is to "post on facebook on behalf as me". Why would I allow that?! A couple of them let you skip it and still play, if not I won't enter because I don't understand it.

It just means that they might want to put as your status that you entered the contest. Nine times out of ten, you can cancel out of the status update. I always do. I know my friends don't really care about all the contests I enter, haha.

This whole Twitter and Facebook thing
http://www.sweepstakesplus.com/smf/this-whole-twitter-and-facebook-thing-t59472.0.html

I use Facebook and love it.  Facebook has various privacy settings so that you can set it up to be as private as possible.  I don't harrassed by friend requests of people I don't know.  If you get a friend request from someone you don't know or care about, you simply click on "Ignore'; and they are none the wiser except that you never approved them.  None of my Facebook information, posts, etc., have ever shown up in Google or so on.

People of all ages use Facebook!  It seems to be more popular with the adults than other social networks.

P.S.  I have won on Facebook! headbang

Hey, it's another sweeps platform, that's all.  I'd prefer that the description included "Facebook" or "Twitter" so that I am not disappointed when I click in and realize that it's an FB entry only.  For what it's worth, I don't like Text ones either.  But those are just my preferences.

If you like Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Text, Blogger, etc... sweeps, have at it.  Your odds of winning are probably better because so many of us don't have the patience for them.

Good luck!

Timeline

It's voluntary now, but soon Timeline will become the default Facebook profile.

You can tweet without followers! You can use hash tags (i.e., #contest -or- #sweepstakes) to cite your topic for non-followers as well as followers! You can get followers by posting #ff (friend follow) and following the person back by clicking follow! Smile Hope this helps!
