Okay here's a stupid question but I really don't know.  What is firefox?  Is it a browser like Alta Vista or what.  Just curious.

Enjoy a Better Web Experience

Firefox 2 delivers helpful new features to make your online experience more productive.
Stay Secure on the Web

Firefox continues to lead the way in online security, and now includes active protection from online scams to keep you safer.
Personalize Your Browser

Choose from over a thousand useful add-ons that enhance Firefox. It’s easy to personalize Firefox to make it your own.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mozilla_Firefox

Mozilla Firefox (commonly known as just Firefox, officially abbreviated as Fx or fx,[1] and popularly abbreviated FF[2]) is a web browser project managed by the Mozilla Corporation. Firefox's source code is available under the terms of the Mozilla tri-license as free and open source software.[3] Firefox has 14.85% of the world's market share in Web browsers as of October 2007.[4][5]

Features included with Firefox are tabbed browsing, spell checker, incremental find (via the Find toolbar), Live bookmarking, an integrated download manager, and a search system that includes Google. A third party developer network has created add-ons which provide specialist functionality.

There are more than 2000 add-ons[6] with the most popular including FoxyTunes (MP3 player), AdBlock Plus (block ads), StumbleUpon (website discovery), DownThemAll! (download functions) and Web Developer (web tools).[7]

Firefox is cross-platform, providing support for various versions of Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. The current stable release of Firefox is version 2.0.0.9, released on 1 November 2007.[8]

And if NONE of these work? Why not try a different Browser? I use IE for most sweeps, but some just won't work for me, so I use FireFox for those - here's a link if you'd like to give it a try:

http://download-firefox.org/

Fasterfox 1.0.3:

https://addons.mozilla.org/search.php?app=firefox&appfilter=firefox&sort=downloads

Performance and network tweaks for Firefox.

Fasterfox allows you to tweak many network and rendering settings such as simultaneous connections, pipelining, cache, DNS cache, and initial paint delay.

Dynamic speed increases can be obtained with the unique prefetching mechanism, which recycles idle bandwidth by silently loading and caching all of the links on the page you are browsing.

A popup blocker for popups initiated by Flash plug-ins is also included.

I upgraded to IE7.  It's been totally revamped since IE6.  It is so much more better with far more features and security applications and isn't anything like IE6.  It even has tab and window browsing now like Firefox. whistle

I have to say that IE7 is a big improvement over IE6 and earlier versions especially because of the tabs. You can even have multiple home pages. Just add more than one home page under options and the rest will show up in tabs everytime you start IE.  Smile

Firefox Extentions: What Extentions Are Actually Useful?
Mozilla Firefox is known for its Extensions system. But then, how do you figure out if they really are what you want? Some people like myself horde them selfs with 30+ extensions, but some people have just plain old Firefox. Lets see what we can do about that!

Ooooh, i've got to check this one out:

Foxmarks: Okay, if you have multiple Firefox's (work and home?) then you will love this. Or you could just be like me, and you destroy your system every month or so. Foxmarks is a service that updates your bookmarks to a server for storage. And then enables you to synchronize them so you always have the latest set no matter what browser your at (if it has foxmarks anyways.) I use Firefox Portable on my flashdrive for when I am at school and home so my browser is always the same, but when I forget it, its always nice to have that to fall back to until I get my flashdrive back. I spent my 1st 1 1/2 years at g4tv learning about comp security and how to use progs, before I started entering sweeps online, and I only use FF because my son put it on and I checked it out and liked what I saw - my point is, it's all a learning curve - you just have to decide what you want to learn about  laughing headbang

I love firefox. You can customize it much more than IE (with extensions). On a RARE occasion there are sites that look weird (because the world thinks it revolves around IE). I am just happy to avoid another Microsoft product. They install things on your computer without asking (they add things to updates) I mean yes they put it in the fine print but who really reads that.

I used to like Firefox--now I use Netscape Navigator 9.  It's based on the FF code, so you can use their extensions and themes.  Here's the link to check it out:  http://browser.netscape.com/

I am bound to Firebox because Vista + IE eats up everything a computer has... even if it's a lot.  Plus, I like the features of Firefox much more than IE.  I get far more sweepstakes entered per day, in much less time!

FIREFOX can be d/ld'ed {downloaded} from here: http://download-firefox.org/

After you d/ld it, install it and update it {from the java site too} - I have a shortcut on my desktop for easy access.
