Got a call today my husband was the finalist for the Movie Quoting Prize Package!!! He won a home movie theater package in the form of a $1600 check! Thank you SA and Head and Shoulders for men! (FB) ****** update, they called today and disqualified us The contest was to show you were a movie quoting legend. Turns out if you use movie quotes in your essay it was copyright infringement and are disqualified. Not sure how you can do this without including a quote???? This was after faxing back our information with SSN and personal information. Kinda sounds fishy. One month to vote on entries and DQ'd overnight.... Thanks anyway SA

I did read the rules after again after we were called. Didn't really think about it being copyrighted material if it is just a movie quote. Not sure how this essay can be won without including at least one popular quote. Just upset they called after a month of judging to congratulate us. Then 12 hours later, after getting the social security number, calling to say he had been disqualified. Doesn't make sense. If he had been DQ'd in the beginning I wouldn't have a problem with it. Oh well, I am discouraged, but entering and staying hopeful. It doesnt hurt as much today as it did yesterday Thanks!

Oh well, I am discouraged, but entering and staying hopeful. It doesnt hurt as much today as it did yesterday Thanks! I hate to say it, but this has all the earmarks of a narc. I usually don't post a win until I have it in hand because there have been instances where people would post, the sponsor would be complained to, then poof, a DQ. I have NO proof that that's what happened here, but if I'm wrong it's a really big coincidence. I know it angers some people when someone posts an "I won, but I'll have to fill you in on the particulars later" post because they think the poster is just trying to get attention, when they are just being careful. Rule of thumb? If you MUST share the news, don't post anything that could alert people to what sweeps it's for - not the sponsor, prize, not anything but "I'm sooooooo excited" and then update when you get it. It's sad that there are such people who take it upon themselves to force sponsors to comply with their own rules, but ultimately, it's on us all to follow those rules. So two life lessons - hard learned, I'm afraid!

that does sound like it is possible. but the essay or other winners haven't been posted yet, so no one, not even my husband remembers what he wrote, so there was nothing to complain against. We were just so excited. Thanks for the heads up. easy come easy go.... i hate learning lessons the hard way

I'm with you - learning lessons the hard way stinks - that's why I try to give people a "heads up" whenever and wherever I can.
