They are remaking Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Without the original cast or Josh Whedon...there are just no words for this uh, "idea"... http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/news/e3i666afabc28491e6a5d5861d83ae30855A new incarnation of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" could be coming to the big screen.
"Buffy" creator Joss Whedon isn't involved and it's not set up at a studio, but Roy Lee and Doug Davison of Vertigo Entertainment are working with original movie director Fran Rubel Kuzui and her husband, Kaz Kuzui, on what is being labeled a remake or relaunch, but not a sequel or prequel.

The new "Buffy" film, however, would have no connection to the TV series, nor would it use popular supporting characters like Angel, Willow, Xander or Spike. Vertigo and Kuzui are looking to restart the story line without trampling on the beloved existing universe created by Whedon, putting the parties in a similar situation faced by Paramount, J.J. Abrams and his crew when relaunching "Star Trek."  well lets see.. Is it a requirement for hollywood writers, heads of studios and directors to have a lobotomy? I think it is. Thats the only explanation. Would it kill them to come up with something original? And comparing this to star trek is kind of lame IMO. Star trek was in dire need of a facelift. It had gotten dated and boring. Buffy could be made with the same characters and, if done correctly, could still be good. omg.. Im so tired of remakes, sequels and big, loud stupid movies..(see terminator)  Thanks for the link it should be interesting to watch this one play out. |

I don't like them screwing around with 'Footloose' either...that was a major part of my teenagerdom...just ain't right. I think they need to leave somethings alone!

Sometime last year it was announced that Jonah Hill was in negotiations to write and executive produce an adaptation of the popular 80's TV show 21 Jump Street. The show starred Johnny Depp and Holly Robinson Peete, amongst others, and was a crime drama about an elite squad of young undercover cops. It seemed odd that Jonah Hill would be tackling this and even odder that it might become a comedy. In a recent interview with Hill over at Complex, though, he promises something a bit different. "We're not even spoofing the movie. It's not strictly comedic, either. We're doing a full-on action movie, blowing sh** up." |

Our regular tipster was proven correct once again as the story was confirmed in April. Our tipster even scooped us on who would be penning the remake, now titled Predators.
So Mr. Anonymous is back again. And being that 20th Century Fox is remaking Predator, it doesn't surprise me at all that Fox is also going back to their catalog for a reboot of Ridley Scott's Alien.

Freddy's back. Again.
New Line is in talks with horror production company Platinum Dunes to re-launch the "A Nightmare on Elm Street" movie series, the franchise that helped establish the studio.
Partners Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form will produce the redo.
The company is remaking "Near Dark" for Rogue and "The Birds" for Universal. It is also prepping a non-remake project, an untitled David Goyer thriller.
and they just keep coming. geez, near dark? are you kidding me. what a joke. I love near dark, its a great vampire movie and should never, ever be remade. The bar scene is classic. " I hate it when they aint been shaved" |

If you must remake movies, at least chose bad ones to tamper with. The good news is that half the movies on this list qualify as stinkers. The awful truth is they are also planning remakes of The Birds, The Dirty Dozen, Battle Royale, The Taking of Pelham One Two Three and The Warriors, five films that are perfect as is.
Take heart. Not all of these will see the light of day. one can only hope  |

They're doing a sequel to Heathers. I think we can all agree that this will be a total failure. They will do what they always do when trying to follow a movie that was perfect.. they will try to hard. They will try to be quirky and cool and it will be ridiculous and lame. now that was an interesting read. Not that I would see the remake but after reading that there is no need. The first highlander was great. The plot, the characters, the music(queen rocks).. It was something different. The rest of the franchise though.. ugh. Some movies should just be left alone. I understand hollywood is in desperate need of ideas but its sad that they have so many writers ,I would think at least some of the talented, in hollywood that this is all they can come up with. |

So basically anything that came out in the 80's is now fair game.  Why remake poltergeist? why remake anything dammit!. Im sorry but this is just plain ridiculous. If its not a sequel its a remake.. I guess since they have ruined every Asian horror movie they have remade they are looking for American ones to butcher.. yeah for us! I know to a lot of people this isn't really a big deal but im not one of those people. This is why 75-80% of what I watch is foreign. Asian, British, French, even Russia has got some really great films. I tell ya if I hear that they are going to remake night of the comet.. im done. |

What drives me spare is-all these remakes and they (screaches loudly) DO NOT EVEN RELEASE MAX HEADROOM ON DVD (pulls self together) C'on people...
