Just wanted to meet everyone and ask some questions.  I'm Ninny and I've been entering sweeps for over four months.  I've not won a thing!  That's pretty discouraging.  I have not missed one day entering several daily sweeps (Woman's Day, Madberries, Disney, the usual magazine sweeps, television show sweeps, etc, etc, etc.)  I have entered a lot of one time only sweeps.  I check my email all the time.  I realize luck is a big factor, but haven't found any luck so far. I can't see myself doing this daily for a year if I don't win anything.   Is this normal?  Has anyone won any sweeps from the ones I mentioned above?

I joined SA to learn more and find other sweeps that mainstream America isn't aware of to improve my chances of winning. However, I only enter the sweeps that have items I'd really like to win or use.   If anything, just reading about all the wins others are experiencing is encouraging.  Thanks for your help!

Luck may be a factor, but it is by no means a deterrent.  Sweeping is a hobby that I work very hard at to supplement our wants and needs.  The more sweepstakes you enter and enter diligently per frequency, the better your chances are of winning.

Roboform Pro (www.roboform.com) is definite must for serious sweeping.

It also takes approximately a good six months of entering sweepstakes to start seeing results.

Thanks for the help and the welcome!  I spend about two hours each day entering.  About two years ago I came home from work and found a box on my doorstep from Redkin.  The post label said "Contest Winner" and had my name and address of course.  I didn't remember even entering anything.  Back then I wasn't entering contests on a regular basis.  Must have just been one of those flukes...my one lucky entry.  So, I know winning is possible for me.  I won't give up!  Have downloaded robo and will use it soon!

Thanks again,

If you downloaded the free version of Roboform, it's very limited compared to the paid version.  I believe you can only save 10 passcards to it.  It used to be thirty.  If you plan on saving a lot of sweepstakes forms, you'll need the Pro version.  I have over 800 passcards saved to it.  There is a discount for it through the right links.

It also can take time for your wins to start catching up with you. I just got a set of Twilight books that I won...last November, I think?scratch Often things show up months, or sometimes nearly a year after winning them. Without any notification. I love the unexpected randomness of sweeping.
And Robform pro is wonderful.

Welcome to SA!

I know you are anxious to see a return on all your effort, but it takes time.  I swept for 4 months before my first DVD win.  It was an obscure DVD that not many people entered for.  It was another 3 months before my next sweep win.  Then, for a time, it was one or two a week.  Now, it has slowed down a lot.  But, I am very selective about what I enter.  I only enter for prizes I want or can gift.  I don't have the time or desire to sell things I don't need.

I enter about 200 sweeps a day, every day.  When I win, it is usually a good win.  So, I am willing to take the long gaps between winning.

Keep in mind that notices and prizes sometimes take months to receive.  Last year, I received a prize, without prior notice, in October.  The sweep ended 12/31/2007.  So, you never know when.

Good luck.  Your first win will come.   Smile

sunny Welcome to SA Ninny! Hope the wins start coming in for you. Do you play the instant wins?  I have gotten lots of great prizes on the instants over the years.

Just wanted to meet everyone and ask some questions.  I'm Ninny and I've been entering sweeps for over four months.  I've not won a thing!  That's pretty discouraging....

 laughing laughing laughing

I can relate to that!

When I first started here 2 1/2 years ago back in Nov '06 I won a few oddball things here and there but nothing to brag about.  T-shirts, Chik-fil-a cows, etc.  And I was a lot more dedicated back then than I am now ... 6-8 hrs a day!

By June '07, my landlady Judy was starting to give me a lot of grief about all the hours I was spending glued to the 'puter.  She was rubbing salt in my sweepstaking wounds.  And liking it!  So I snarled back at her that if somebody won something nice every couple of years that was about right and that I still had 18 months left to go ... and something about kissing my lily white bum ...

... one week later I called her up at work and told her I just won a dive trip for 2 to Australia for 2 weeks and she couldn't come with ... then I hung up and wouldn't answer the phone for a couple of hours!   whistle whistle whistle

(She did get to go with, though  error )

The whole shindig was worth about $33,000.00 AND ...

... I haven't won anything exciting since!!!!  crazy tongue crazy tongue crazy tongue

The whole thing is that it will come around sooner or later ... it is just a matter of time and statistics ...   sunny

Everyone is so encouraging!  I won't give up...sooner or later I will Bingo.  Actually I did score an IW one time about two Christmases ago.  I won a photobook from Shutterfly, a $40 value.  It was from a spin game on HSN.com.  They had another contest this past Christmas, but I wasn't so lucky that time.  Which just goes to prove, I may be unlucky at horses, but the odds are better at sweeps! lol  If I ever do win anything big, I'll be sure to "blog all about it!"

Thanks for all your help!

Hang in there Ninny, I've been sweeping for about a year & have won some awesome prizes. I spent very little this past Christmas cause I saved up my wins & passed them out then. It does take time & patience. Sweeping isn't for everybody; but once you win you're forever hooked!
