I'm going to apologize for my ignorance right off the bat but I have to ask. How do you go on Facebook and only enter sweeps & contests? I am not the least bit interested in the social aspect of Facebook, so sorry...I just want to enter the contests. Is there a way and if there is can someone explain?!! Thanks in advance.

Just don't send or accept any friend requests.  That way you have an account and can just enter the sweeps.

sunny Just set up an account. Don't post a profile pic. Don't tell your friends and family that you have a fb account.

Now I really feel stupid....I signed up for an account and that went fine but later on when i tried to enter instant sweeps it asked to send me a text or give them a phone number. Believe it or not I don't text so I clicked phone number, typed my land line phone number and it keep saying I have requested too many codes.I did try to enter a number of instant sweeps to no avail. This has gone on fro 12 hours now. How can you contact Facebook and type them the reason why I am having problems. I can't do anything on Facebook now because it goes back to the security issue . . I don't know what to do.

I guess no one has any advice on how to login. It only serves to confirm why I didn't want to get involved with Facebook in the first place....

I've never had an issue with Facebook and sweepstakes, so I'm not really sure what it could be.  I'd start with some basic stuff first, maybe log out of FB and back in?  See if that resolves anything.  Also, poke around in your account settings and see if something looks odd there.  FB changes their privacy settings almost monthly it seems and I can never really keep up with what their doing, haha.

Sounds like you're trying to sign in with a mobile device (cell phone).

Click this link and start with the basics... http://www.facebook.com/help/login/basics

You should just be able to go here http://www.facebook.com/ and enter your email address and password and just sign in. When you have the "keep me logged in" box checked when you click on a facebook sweep here on SA it will bring you to the sponsors page without having to sign in every time.

When it comes to facebook accounts or sweepstakes, I stay away. If sweepstakes were ONLY on facebook or other social networks, I would have to find another hobby. Not as exciting as Sweeping, but I would have to say good bye to it. I like the fact there is a Privacy clause with all the sweeps I enter. AND I mean privacy. I dislike having to opt into a sponsor sweeps, but if the prize is right..okay. I do have family and friends who are on facebook and they seem to enjoy the social events it provides. Sorry but if you like to keep your home life away from the rest of the world..then don't bother with facebook. This is only my opinion. I know there will be many of you arguing the point. My point is this...Not interested in socializing amongst the billions. I prefer my little group.  Smile Best of luck to all. Happy Turkey Day.

I agree with JeffHeavyMetal.   What does FB do for the company anyway? So you click LIKE to enter and it gives the company a misleading report of how many people would actually go on to their website or "like" their products.

It's the company's choice of providing a sweepstakes so people can try their products.  If they use an entering method that I don't trust (FB), then I have the choice of never buying that product also.

It becomes a lose-lose situation and that is too bad.

as far as clicking 'like' to enter a sweeps on FB, it is NOT FB that requires the 'like' in order to enter, it is the company running the sweeps.  FB just gives them a forum to run their sweeps.  There is always a disclaimer saying that the info you send is being sent to the company and not FB.  As far as a misleading report of how many people actually go to the website, the website has chosen to generate the misleading report by requiring the 'like' to enter.  FB just give the companies a place to list their sweeps.

Agreed. It's just that FB got SO popular, and it's probably easier/cheaper to run sweeps through it, that now you'll find nationally well known name brands in the mix!

I signed up for FB early on *only* to enter sweeps when more and more sweeps were offered through the FB platform, and I *just* won a good 1x with weekly prizes through it!  headbang
