Help!

I have not been able to access SA since very early this morning. I keep getting "page cannot be displayed". The only way I'm here right now is though a free online proxy. Even with a proxy my ability to navigate around SA is very limited without running into a "page cannot be displayed" again. I have tried a DNS flush but it has not helped. If something changed with SA's servers last night others may be having the same problem that I am experiencing. I have Verizon DSL and my LAN setting are set up properly and this is the only site I cannot access. Did something change on SA's end late last night/early this morning?

Thanks for the replies. This tells me that it's not my computer but something has happened on SA's end. If there were server problems we may have a bad entry in our cache. Dumping cookies/temp. internet files will not help.
Do you know if the others that cannot access SA using Verizon DSL? Doing a DNS flush on my internet may not have been a great thing to do and has not helped. We may have to waited till it's flushed by our internet providers. I'm not sure but I think that can take up to 24 hours.

Does anyone know if SA is aware that some cannot access the site?

My sister is using AT&T and yes I think SA is aware because someone contacted my sister and told her to clear cookies etc. I think you are right. They will probably have to wait it out.

I have noticed also that the "emoticons" have stopped "emotificating" ... but the Ads still flash at me!   crazy tongue crazy tongue crazy tongue

Cin, Loren,
Thanks for the reply back. Something odd must have happened with the servers. I cannot access SA either though my bookmark nor though web search. I really hope SA is aware of the problem just incase something needs to be done on their end. If all is ok with SA now then we probably have to wait till our IP's reset themselves. My sister has Comcast and get get on the site with no problems. Again, Sure hope SA is aware and it's now just a matter of waiting on our IP's resetting.

This happened to me a couple months back and I had to wait until IP address reset before I could sign on to SA. Same problem though as you are having. I couldn't get in through bookmark or e-mail. I use AOL most of the time and luckily I was able to get in with IE7.

Cin, Amy,
Thanks, Glad SA is aware of the problem. Hopefully things will be back to normal soon. I really do appreciate the replies back letting me know I'm not the only one having the problem. Will try again in a few hours. Gotta get off this proxy server because it is very, very slow.

There was a problem last night and I believe the DNS setting were reset.  As of this morning, the site should be accessible for most people.  There are still a few problem areas.  Apparently Firefox and AOL are not on board with the updated DNS yet but should be shortly.  The Admin is aware of what happened and will be back among us on Saturday.

For what it's worth, I had trouble with "page cannot be displayed this morning".  I hit "refresh" a couple of times and the site loaded and has been up since.

I have a tree in the Cherry 7Up Orchard sweepstakes and I have noticed many comments posted there today from members that have said that they were not able to get into the SA site.  I haven't had any problems getting into SA today, but I have noticed that the count of members that are currently logged in under the forum has been kinda low, when I have been visiting.  Also, I have had a couple of times in the past, when I haven't been able to get into SA for awhile -- in those cases I wasn't able to get back into the site until after I restarted my computer.  I love this site!  I know it is awful when you can't get in.  Hope it is back up for everyone soon.   Smile

I just love posts that say, "I can't access the site today ... is anybody else having this problem?"

.... er ... is anything wrong with that statement????   scratch scratch scratch scratch

Think about this folks!!!!   error error  Think really, really, really, really hard!
How are they posting this current condition when they are unable to access the site??????

Everytime I read that I just about die laughing!!!!   If they can't access the site, then how in the flying cow patties are they making the current post???
scratch scratch scratch scratch scratch

... just stirring the pot ...  (I am not referring to this post in particular ... I read that comment everytime the site takes a dive!)

It does sound silly when I post that I can't access this site today. The only way I can post this comment is how I stated ... through an online proxy server rather than Verizon's server. It's a matter of my Verizon internet server not "communicating" with SA's servers. The online proxy server is so slow that I can only get to a few areas of SA. This page is one of the very few areas I can access. I cannot even put a smiley face right here because even that will bring up a "page cannot be displayed". It would be a bit more bearable right now if I could at least reach "my sweepstakes" page. I know you're just kidding around and I'm posting this last comment because some folks were probably wondering the same thing that you pointed out. Hope everything is back to normal soon for myself and other that cannot use SA. --------> Insert smiley

gosweepwin,
So Admin is aware I use IE not FireFox and Verizon DSL . Refreshing, DNS flush on my end, rebooting computer and resetting modem hasn't helped. -----> Insert blue waving smiley

Cannot upload screenshot of error page. I get another error saying the upload folder is full.

I'm using IE7, but I only had it happen two brief times two days ago.  Since then, everything has been fine.

Hello,

I have not been able to get on this site for over two days.  I am on the road to the Fontana Race and thought I would try from my laptop - yeah I got on.

If you do not hear from me tomorrow, come rescue me 'cos that will mean that I still can not get on from my home computers!   cussing

On a positive note, not sweeping has given me time to get lots of other work done.
However, I miss talking to my SA buddies!

If you are having trouble getting on with certain ISP's, please contact your ISP and tell them to update
their DNS Servers. You might also try restarting your own computer for those that leave their computers turned on all the time.

Sorry for the trouble.  Waving

As an alternative to force this change for stubborn isp's you can use open DNS which is a free dns service separate from your ISP. Here is the site.

Thanks, worked like a charm. I can now get to the site without going through a slow proxy. Read about opendns a week or 2 ago and started to do it then. Wish I had and then wouldn't have missed 2 days sweeping!
