I am really sorry to hear this but I have a feeling you will find something soon. I'm not sure what your job is but I just have the feeling you can get work. You know I will say a prayer for you and I just happened to hear a sermon an hour ago about God being good in the prosperous times and in the hard times. I know he will see you through this. Hugs and all the blessings you need.

awwww  love

well i can remeber when my mom got laid off. She was a computer something. And made $80,000 a year. She was devasted. She tried looking for another computer job, but didn't find any. And she decided to go back to school and get a teaching degree and become a teacher. She makes a whole heck less money, but she loves teaching.
Hopefully you can get unemployment until you can find something else. I know you can do it though Smile

cry So sorry to hear that news Champ. The job scene is getting pretty bleak for alot of people and it is only going to get worse, especially in some areas of the US. Of course you can get unemployment and although it won't be as much as your wages, it's till better than nothing until you can secure another job. Unless you have a unique business start up idea, the prospects of starting a business right now is not looking too good either. Lack of sales is closing many businesses right now.
  Best of luck to you.

Champ, you know you have my support.  Look at it as a blessing. I know things will be tough for a while, but remember, you hated the job.  This gives you the opportunity to find something that will suit you better.

You're in my thoughts.  Things will be ok. Just relax and focus on your job search.

Hey girl, thanks for responding so quickly..... yes, they did, and I think it's kind of rude to be honest... people have families and mouths to feed... i wouldn't have cared as much if I didn't have a daughter and a fiance i have to provide for... i am the one who works and makes the money for us... the company said that i'm eligible for re-hire.. they are re-organizing and may have a couple of positions then and will consider me/contact me .. they said i was great to work with but over-head (which we all were) needed to be cut by 75%.  Maybe I would feel better if they would have given us a heads-up to at least venture out and make arrangements.... i did come home and get online and apply for California Unemployment....   We may be leaving the state I was born and raised in.....

Its nuts how they are doing people now...I was just talking to someone who found out he was laid off when his swipe card no longer worked at the gate...and of course this is "perfect timing" what with your wedding coming up! But if you disliked your job this certainly is incentive to regroup and consider some changes.

Honestly, they would be stupid to have given you any  heads up.

As someone who worked in a law office, most times employees who know they are going to get laid off do very, VERY bad things,. Destroy property, steal lists, steal information or intentionally delete or destroy information, come up with nonsense lawsuits of sexual or racial harassment.

Every company today has to do it with a walk out immediately. Knowing you are going to lose a job will make you a very bad employee. 92% of companies who were nice and let employees stay on had serious issues from those employees.

We had three cases of companies who went to us who were going to sue employees. One girl had erased the servers in the company and then spent all night shredding every file she could get her hands on.

The reality is, while you can sue, most juries see companies as 'you have enough money and you laid off that poor little girl, screw you' attitude.

That company went bankrupt because of the employees action.

Make sure you have something in writing from the company that you were laid off and it is permanent. Saying that you are re-hirable may bite you big time with unemployment. Often, the company says you were not laid off, but there is no work for you, so your position is temporarily deferred.

If you have any issue with it, you can ask me for advise on it. I wasn't a lawyer but worked in a law office and we had more than a few cases of companies screwing over unemployment benefits by wording it so that they couldn't file. You will win but it will take a while.

I would suggest NOT relocating anywhere without a job ahead of time. Things are bad in every state, and some states pay a lot less than what you make in California.

You might want to downsize your wedding plans and get on a serious budget because unemployment in the US is lasting over 9 months and underemployment is now the norm.

I know that might sound rude, but I'm not trying to be.

I have more than a few friends who are still unemployed after 8 months and they basically kept living the way they were use to, now have big credit card bills and still have no job. One of my friends was a law clerk, he's now working as a waiter and had to move home to his parents and his Dad is unemployed.

I am truly sorry. If you need legal advise, please ask  love

So sorry to hear this.  I hope with the reorganization that you're able to get your job back.

Or, from what I am reading, you didn't like your job?  Then I hope you get the call that you can have your old job back and are able to tell them "no" because you already have something great!

Sorry you lost your job,,
I said a prayer you will find something soon
I have a prayer for employment

This is a prayer I said when I was out of work..
I dont know if you are catholic...it helped me..

Prayer to St. Joseph for Empolyment

Dear Saint Joseph, you were yourself once faced with the responsibility of providing the
necessities of life for Jesus and Mary.  Look down with fatherly compassion upon me in my
anxiey over my present inability to support my family.  Please help me to find gainful
employment very soon, so that this heavy burden of concern will be lifted from my heart
and that , I am soon able to provide for those whom God has intrusted in my care.
Help us to guard aganist bitterness and discouragement, so that we may emerge from
this trial spiritually enriched and with even greater blessings from God.

Oh my friend, I am so sorry to hear this.  I just don't know what to say except for that I will lift you up and keep you in my prayers.  I know it sounds corny but I do believe it is true:  When a door is closed - a window is opened.  Go look for your window you pretty, sweet, girl.  How can anyone NOT give you a job!  You will get through this.  Love, Hugs, and Kisses.

This is the part I hate... To be honest...   I hate having to sell myself all over again.. That's really what it comes down to.. You're like a hot ticket...... Sold 2 the Highest Bidder.....   Tee Hee.....

Champ, the best way to sell yourself is to be yourself.  I have interviewed many, many people and I can't stand people who are trying to impress me.  I appreciate someone who is genuine, excited to be considered for a job, and comfortable with themselves.  Just relax and go with it.

Good luck!
