ok, i am really a newbie here and there is a giveaway in town for a house. (It is a new 3 bedroom 2 bath brick, really nice house.) They are not advertising it. I found out about it by looking for a house. The guy that sells these homes is the one that is giving it away. The rules are at www.woodybutlerhomes.com If anyone would take a look and have some advice on how to play this one I would appreciate it. It says you can enter all you want and we are fairly a small town. I would appreciate it. thanks from a newbie!!!

first off... i don't see where a specific house is mentioned.   So don't expect to win one that looks like the 'pretty picture'.

Otherwise, it appears to be an up-front honest contest.  Be aware that you would, as of this date, be only eligble to become semi-finalist for the next two draws. Of couse, semi-finalists get squat ... just the 'chance' to become the finalist.

Now down to the nitty-gritty:  3 prizes, 40 envelopes.  Must draw until you get five of the same...  I will guarantee you that there are only 5 of those that say "house".  Maybe only 10 (probably only 5) that say "laptop" and 25/30 that say "cheesy TV".

The odds are HUGELY in favor of him not parting with a new house.  But there is alway a chance, slim though it may be, that somebody may get lucky.  This is a typical "pyramid" type lottery where every step up the pyramid reduces your eventual chances ... as opposed to a straight "draw from the hat" lottery.

Personally, if it was me, I would enter all I could.  As long as it didn't involve driving 30 minutes each way to reach the site to enter!

(In fact now that I am taking a second look at the rules, they are really too basic. Valuations, types, descriptions, legal bull-crud are all very vague.  Of course he is counting on somebody just winning the old Magnavox out of his spare room!

Good Luck

The only way I knew it was a new house was the lady showed me the one they were giving away. Of course, it is not in the rules and they could always "change their minds".  She did say you could enter as many times as you wanted. The locations are about 20 minutes apart. I am not sure why they are not advertising in print, radio, TV, etc. He is a legitimate builder. Been around many years, on the chamber of commerce. Although he prefers to finance himself and overcharge for the houses.
She told me I could enter on the internet too, and I found no way anywhere there to enter. It kind of looks like a pain.
