http://www.totalfilm.com/features/introducing-the-asylum-lords-of-the-b-movieThe interwebs are going crazy right now about a trailer for low budget monster movie Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus - which you can watch here.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fa7ck5mcd1oThe production company behind the film, The Asylum, have developed a unique reputation for their shameless brand of B-Movie mayhem.
In business since 1997, Asylum specialise in the so-called 'Mockbuster' (though they prefer the term ‘tie-in’).
And they're more than just a nichey 'net thing. In 2005, Blockbuster ordered 100,000 copies of their film H.G. Wells’ The War of the Worlds - released just before the big-budget Spielberg version hit screens.
Since then, Asylum have used their particular skill set to cash in on the mega-budget marketing of major studio releases such as King Kong (King of The Lost World), Pirates of the Caribbean (Pirates of Treasure Island), and Alien vs. Predator: Requiem (AVH: Alien vs. Hunter)...
Join us for a look a some of Asylum’s past output, the upcoming buzz machine Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus, and a few films we hope they might make in the future...
