Has anyone entered sweeps and ended up with magazine subscriptions?   I have and I get bills.  I never select that I want a subscription and I always read over the official rules.

Is this happening to anyone here?   If so, what sites should I avoid?  I noticed that BHG.com  better homes and gardens has an option to which I do not select yes to have a subsciption.   I also avoid all other magazine sweepstakes to avoid any conflicts.   I have more invoices than I really know what to do with.  It is annoying!

Please HELP!!!

For some sweeps, entering the sweepstakes confirms your desire to get one issue of a magazine and you must cancel subscription to not get more. Other sweeps allow them to call you to buy a timeshare. Be sure to read not only the rules as you say you already do but also the comments. Other sweepers will typically comment when something "extra" like this is present. Its still a valid sweepstakes but like those sweeps that require a purchase to get a unique code, there will typically be a way in the rules to enter w/o purchase/subscription, which might be snail mail and not online, though it isn't always clear that online will get you a subscription.

I got about half a dozen invoices from various magazines I didn't select (or I don't believe I selected, anyway) so when I got the bill I just wrote "Cancel" on it and put it back in the mailbox for pickup. I haven't gotten any second invoices or calls from any of them.

I also make sure to read the rules carefully so I was also suprised that I got so many - I know I accidentally subscibed to at least one but not the others.

Many are very easy to subscribe to by accident.  I just either email them to cancel it or right "cancel" on the bill when I get it--not a problem.

That is what I do also.  Works everytime.  They don't want to waste they effort or magazines sending to someone that isn't going to pay sunny

I like the idea of writing "cancel" and putting back in the mailbox.  I think I'll begin doing this from this point forward.   I guess after three years of entering sweeps and getting things in the mailbox is better than getting calls - which I haven't had yet.   I'll be thankful for that!!!   Thanks for everyones responses.   cheers

sunny  Anytime that I have mistakenly subscribed to a magazine when entering, I always get an email thanking me for my order. I hold it for about a week than go into the account for that magazine and unsubscribe. You have to wait at least a week before it shows in their system. I use to always do the cancel on my bill, but that always cost me a stamp.

^^I never open them, just refuse them and cancel them, so I never put a stamp on them.

I am positive that every single contest I've entered I selected "NO" to the magazine subscription/free trial,  but today I got a bill for 4 Hearst magazines!  I don't even want those magazines I would never order them the only magazine I clicked "YES' to was for All you.

It makes me really mad that they would send me a bill for something I din't order.

Has this happened to anyone else here?

Waving I get those envelopes from them almost daily. At first I thought they were bills, too. But after careful examination I looked them over again and discovered they were just trying to get me to subscribe. You would get a magazine from them before you got a bill. A bill would have an account number on it already. If it does then you can very easily just go to their site and unsubscribe.

So glad I found this thread!  I've only been doing this for about 3 weeks now, and I've already gotten 2 magazines.  One of them I thought I didn't sign up for and one of them I KNOW I didn't - I specifically checked the "I don't want to subscribe" button and I got a bill anyway.  Good to know that it is easy to cancel... thanks for this info!

It happens to me all the time.  I must have signed up for a Martha Stewart Living subscription by accident.  I cancelled it but I wound up with three magazines (Jan., Feb., & March of this yr).  I felt bad; I never paid for them though.  They really shouldn't send them out until they are paid for anyway.   nono

It happened to me once from Woman's Day.  When I got the email to confirm my subscription, I immediately went onto their website to unsubscribe.  I received one magazine, but never got a bill.

The link is still there:

No purchase is necessary to enter. If you'd prefer enter the sweepstakes without starting a trial subscription to Woman's Day or if you are already a subscriber, click here.

I no longer get that option on my entry forms on all my Woman's Day forms.  Maybe it's some program (like adblok) exclusive to me.

Oh, now that's weird - do you see the top part bud43?

Fill in the fields below to start a FREE trial subscription to Woman's Day and be automatically entered for your chance to win:

If you like what you see, you'll get 11 more issues (12 in all) for just $7.99 — that's 78% less than others pay on the newsstand. If not, return the bill marked "cancel" and keep the first issue with no obligation. You'll still be eligible to win the sweepstakes.

If yes, maybe try clicking around under that paragraph to find the link?  scratch

Make sure you look over the whole page.  Sometimes there will be a box already checked to start a subscription or trial subscription. Uncheck it if you don't want that option.  Make sure you understand all of the options.

Do you consider Surveys to be part of Sweeps? Do you have any luck with them? I have been through a couple.
