My daughter won several prizes in the Barbie Doll For a Day promotion that ended 1/31/11. Now...while she received most of her prizes right away...she never did get the Barbie dvd's that she had won. After months of waiting and phone calls and emails, I finally received a reply from Mattel today that said they no longer had the DVD's, but were going to send me instead a $40 voucher to cover the 8 dvd's she won.

Question: When it comes to prize substitutions...should the sponsor go by the ARV that is in the rules and value at the time of the contest...or of when you finally get the prize. IDK...somehow it just doesn't feel right.

Thanks  scratch

sunny It is up to the sponsor what they substitute or what they have in their rules. Whenever this has happened to me it has always equaled or was over the original ARV. Sometimes you just have to take what they give you. I'll bet your daughter will have lots of fun shopping with $40.

pmeek: thank you for the input...I've never had to deal with something like this yet. (lucky me) so any insight is much appreciated.

Amy: Yes..she won that prize 8 times. It was one of those where you could win unlimited prizes. Here is a working link to the rules

Ah, I see - 8x should be $160 if they cost $20 each then, I totally understand your upset!  love

As pmeek noted, they write the rules for CYA  cussing

Since sponsors tend to inflate ARV's, and the price may have changed since the sweeps, I wonder if they operated on them costing $5 each now - have you looked?
