So two days ago I went to the nail salon. Well they were doing my nails, and taking the little block thing, and like scrubbing my nails with it. Well it accidently cut my finger. The cut was really tiny, but it started to bleed. The lady said, I have something that will stop the bleeding. Its going to sting. Well she put it on it, it was liquid something. Well It stopped the bleeding, and it stung. Well later that day, it looked kind of wierd, like it grew its own skin over the cut. Well now it looks kind of infected, a little swollen, and the skin where that thing was is yellow. So anyone have any advice? I wish that lady wouldn't of put that stuff on it. It hurts when I touch it.

Ugh!!! Tiff!!! What she put on there was liquid skin. It is kind of like a crazy glue bandage. Thats what is yellowing! You need to scrub or peel that nonsense off of there and clean it all out really good with hydrogen peroxide. If the red puffy area spreads, if you get a ton of non stop pus, if it doesn't stop hurting soon, or you get a red streak going down your finger, you need to get to the doctor. Quickly.
Nail salons are notorious for not using very good disinfection and NO sterilization. There was an undercover report done around here that showed them using stuff like the foot spa from person to person without even cleaning it. And those filing blocks are used on multiple people without being sterilized as well. Just think, she got your blood on that one, and did you see her throw it out?
There have been a few cases of people getting MRSA and other major nasties from those joints!

Another thing you might try is to soak the hand in warm water with epsom salts. That will reduce the swelling and encourage healing. If you have any of these symptoms, do see a doc asap as celticbikerbabe said http://health.nytimes.com/health/guides/disease/mrsa-infection/overview.htmlSymptoms Staph skin infections normally cause a red, swollen, and painful area on the skin. Other symptoms may include:
Skin abscess Drainage of pus or other fluids from the site Fever Warmth around the infected area Symptoms of a more serious staph infection may include:
Rash Shortness of breath Fever Chills Chest pain Fatigue Muscle aches Malaise (general feeling of illness) Headache

I have had an infection on my finger before...I always take a needle and burn the end really well first, then I use it to open up the infected area and let it drain before I use the peroxide. I have never had to go to the doctor with one yet...but I did have to take Caitlyn to get some antibiotics...her's was really bad!
We still had to clean it with peroxide, but the medicine helped her also!

Eww. Well she had asked if I wanted her to cut it off. I thought that was so wierd and I said no. It's yellow where the skin stuff is. Then around it is a little red and swollen. I guess I will try to take that skin off. Thats gonna hurt You know those toe things that they put on your toes to seperate them? Well I had them on my toes, and my daughter wanted them so she put them on her toes. Well later when she didn't want them anymore. I told her to go throw them away. The nail lady said really quickly, "We don't throw those away!!!". I guess they reuse everything. EWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!... Tiff dont go there anymore!

Oh, sweetie!! I would be pissed Well, pissed and scared. You've gotten so really great advice and I think if you follow it, it may save you a trip to the doc. I can't believe that nail salons are STILL cutting corners on disinfection! I saw the same report bikerbabe is referring to and I was appalled!! I have never done the whole nail thing, but you couldn't pay me to go to one nowadays! Are you experiencing fever or chills like theredhead posted?

No I did grow a tail though.... but..... lol just kidding. I went to another nail place, just to ask what they thought. If it was infected etc. Guess what they use the same stuff. Well they told me to leave the skin on, its sopposed to heal. I have no idea, but Im too scared to peel the skin off. My finger doesnt hurt. But the skin does.

Soak your hand in warm soapy water until your fingers get all wrinkly. It should peel right off then. It isn't the liquid bandage stuff that might cause a problem, it's the dirty file she used that could give you an infection. The longer that you leave it without cleaning it out, the more chance of infection, hon!
