Some do swear by early am/ late at night since there are usually fewer playing then - you still have to play at the *right* time though.

You are not winning because the judges and computers are not picking your name. Some people win all the time because they are lucky. Others not so lucky. Just follow the rules so you do not get disqualified. It really does not matter when you enter. What is meant to be, will be. What does matter is that you enter
What works for others, may or may not work for you. Just be patient, persistent, and enter everyday. Eventally you will win something.

Ways I deal with the frustration of a dry spell: 1} I get outside of my own head by helping others. Either by voting, answering questions, or just getting a little silly. 2} I avoid the winners circle. It's not that I'm not happy for other members, it's just that I don't need the constant reminder that I'm not one of them - for now. 3} I hard charge on sweeps, going through all the categories and getting a sense of satisfaction/accomplishment when I get all caught up. 4} I take a break from the computer, since it's gone from being fun to being a chore. If you keep pushing yourself to enter and things don't change, you will most likely burn out and quit, whereas if you make a decision to take a break for a day or 2, you are still in control. I *usually* find I return after my mini "vacation" that I'm refreshed and can see things more clearly, so the little things don't get to me, and I enjoy instead of dreading entering my sweeps.

There is no secret! It just takes persistence, patience and consistency to win. Unless you were entering sweeps somewhere else before you joined SA you really haven't been at it long enough to see wins yet. Although I don't know which sweeps you have been entering, you must consider a few things.
1) Probably a lot of what you have entered have not ended yet. You can't win until the sweeps is over.
2) Even if some of the sweeps have ended it somethings takes weeks and somethings a month or more until winner(s) are chosen.
3) After a sweeps has ended and the winner(s) chosen it is sometimes another few weeks or a month or more until the winner(s) are notified.
Just hang in there! You will win but you must give it time. And speaking of time, the IW sweeps are strictly a matter of timing. Sometimes winners are not notified, the prize just shows up at your door or in your mail box.
There have been a few new sweepers that have thought checking off the sweeps check box next to the sweeps listing would enter them ... nope! You must click on the link and fill out the entry form. (I only mention this because I would hate for you to think your were entering something you weren't).
But really, you WILL win! Honest!!! you will you will you will .... good luck!

It may sound kinda nuts, but I keep 2 important things in mind while sweeping:
1} I CAN win, I believe I WILL win, and I'll do my part by entering to win!!!
2} Wanting to win doesn't mean I will for sure win - it just means someone will for sure win what I'm entering for, and it *could* be me!!!
They may sound like they can't both be true, but I know from experience they are - lots of times other people won the prizes I *really* wanted to win, but then I'd win another prize I wanted just as much!
If you approach this as a fun hobby and as long as you keep it light, enjoying the various aspects of entering and discovering new products and services, you'll stick with it!

I have read all the tips here. I went back and double and triple checked my email. Still naaaadaaaa! So, since I am not ready to throw in the towel, I am wondering how long a "dry spell" lasts. I have been in this for a short 2 months, but haven't won a thing in well over 2 weeks? I just keep entering and hoping. Thanks for any comments, and Good Luck with Your Sweeping!!!

I thought I responded to this, but I see you already answered it yourself, YAY!!! Got home from errands and found Ups had made a stop. What a great surprise. Exactly 2 months in, and won a Wii and a game from Redbook's Melgrave Incident Sweepstakes. Thank you SA and Redbook.

REMEMBER CHECK YOUR EMAIL EVERY DAY!This last spring I was on a 3 day trip to Vegas from a contest win. We left on Friday morning and came back on the last flight out Sunday night. With flight delays we did not get home till 1pm Monday afternoon. When I travel I take my computer to check mail and download pictures to. This time I did not take it because it was just a short weekend in Vegas. After unpacking I got on my computer to check my mail. There was a contest win! It was sent out Friday afternoon. I had won 2 business class tickets New York to Paris and tickets to the French Open. At the bottom of the email it said I need to email or fax the affidavit back by noon Monday or an alternate winner would be selected. It was now 1:30pm. I called the phone number in the email and told them I has been out of town and had just read the email. They said they were sorry but they had selected an alternate winner because they did not hear from me by noon. They then told me if the alternate winner does not respond or turns it down they would come back to me. For the next 3 days I sat on my computer and prayed to the sweepstakes gods. Then it came. The email that the alternate winner turned it down. He could not get the time off from work and for me to send in the affidavit. So remember Check your mail daily!Twobyte

There are all kinds of sweeps, with short entry period types being somewhat rare. Some swear by entering 1x's right at the end, no matter how long they run for, while others say it doesn't matter. I do know that waiting until the last day can backfire if they end early in the day! If you like the essay sweeps, that opens up more opportunities for you! Just remember, some of the essay/recipe/pic/etc. sweeps will require you to get the most votes, so you might want to become a regular voter in our vote forum:
http://www.sweepstakesplus.com/smf/referral-and-vote-requests-b8.0/
So people will be happy to vote for you knowing you will return votes. As to local sweeps? That's where you need to dig them up on your own - SA is {mostly} focused on listing sweeps that are national. Radio stations and local stores are good places to start. The sweeps on SA are legit. Sweepsadvantage just lists the promotions, they don't control how they are run. Many sweeps have loose privacy policies, and we are all responsible for reading them, along with the rules, before we commit our info. Just like SA/SP doesn't control how sponsors/JA's run their sweeps, neither do they judge legitimate sweeps that post winners. I keep in mind that when a sponsor chooses to use their advertising money on a promotion {sweepstakes, contest, etc.} that they are looking for new customers and/or trying to keep the ones they have. Some choose to ask if you'd like to subscribe to their newsletter, while others require that you subscribe. Some will ask if they may share your info, while others will require that you allow them to to enter. We are free to decide what our comfort level is on every sweeps we enter, and it's on us to check out their privacy policy and decide when they go above that level. Magazine sweeps: To get to the no subscription form {their form(s) won't allow a direct link} Look for: "No purchase is necessary to enter. If you'd prefer to enter the sweepstakes without starting a trial subscription to *** or if you are already a subscriber, click here." I've found that when people go through a dry spell they tend to focus on things that may be preventing them from winning - it's a natural reaction, especially when you used to win so easily!!! But, all the reasons people think of that may be preventing them from winning (more sweepers/cheaters/etc.) have minimal impact - it's really all about timing - either you have it or you don't.Spam is *unsolicited" email. If, while entering a sweeps, you fail to catch a checked box that says you will recieve email from 3d parties, or agree to a privacy policy that states you will receive email from 3d parties, any resulting emails would NOT be spam. It's fine to comment that a sweeps has a very loose privacy policy, or to warn that they pre-check a box that says you will recieve email from 3d parties - that's what comments are for, but please don't post people will receive spam. Thanks. If you get "already entered" when you try to re-enter a sweeps , it means your entry probably DID go through, but the page just didn't render correctly so you couldn't tell. ALSO - when I started out, I learned the most by reading the COMMENTS under the individual sweeps

curmudgeon does an excellent job of explaining what SA is and what it can/can't do here: This may not be the place to ask this but don't know who else to ask. I see tons of sweepstakes promoters. Do all you guys just use SA or do you use other promoters? How can you tell if they are for real?
Thanks, vj
This is probably a question of semantics, but for clarification, SA isn't a promoter. It's a sweepstakes listing service. Actually, it far more than that. Here's an example from the rules of a Progressive Insurance sweepstakes: " Sponsor: Progressive Casualty Insurance Company, 6300 Wilson Mills Road, Mayfield Village, OH 44143. Administrator: ePrize, LLC, One ePrize Drive, Pleasant Ridge, MI 48069." The sponsor puts up the prize(s) and the administrator promotes and administers the sweep.
SA is far and away the best of many sweeps listing services. You'll find the sweeps are usually listed here first and then find their way to listing on other sites.
There's really no need to use another listing service.
