Obama to Make Case for Economic Planposted:26 MINUTES AGOcomments: 124
filed under: National News, Political News, The Obama Presidency
In a prime-time speech before a joint session of Congress tonight, President Barack Obama will outline his strategy for reviving the stalled U.S. economy and remind the country that he "inherited" this financial crisis from his predecessor

Couple observations here. Didn't he already get his stimulus and didn't he just add 2 trillion to the financial crisis?

Hey, can we defer from using any one individual's name since we know who really runs the show and hence forward refer to all as "The Man"! laughing

With no fanfare and little notice, the national debt has grown by more than $4 trillion during George W. Bush’s presidency.

It’s the biggest increase under any president in U.S history.

laughing let's not forget the intrest but hey he's in charge now so we should quit looking back. He's going to give us change. Where is it? I'm just wondering. What's more debt we'll be paying no matter what so why would he be trying to make his case?

well considering it took 8 years to get us in the mess Im willing to give him a little more time. granted he has been president for a whole month now..more than enough time to turn everything around I guess. well yeah, if he was a superhero maybe. but alas, he is just a mere mortal.  laughing

laughing I'm sure you are. When will Bush stop getting the blame? Probably never. I thought he was the hero at least that's what Harris poll said  laughing

I can't wait to see what he does next. Yeah for such a short time and look at the debt he created. Must be a record.

I really think before the "Obama vs. Bush Smackdown" continues, there should be a refresher course in the national debt:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_public_debt

...and if it really makes a difference to some whether the puppet, I mean the president, is a republican or democrat, note that the largest deficit increase occurred under Harry S. Truman, a democrat.  Also note, that in 2000 under Bill "Where did I put that cigar" Clinton, the debt increase wasn't that much below Bush's.

I knew that but very kind of you to point it out. I'm just posting the news that the MSM wants us to see for today. We have a democratic POTUS right now so he's the man of the hour.

Ladies, ladies.  The past in another discussion.  A long other discussion for another time.  I am curious to see how BO says he is going to cut the deficit in half at the same time he's incurring that huge debt.  Be on the lookout for a magic wand.

Now, now, you really can't discuss the deficit without discussing the history of how it came to be.

BO? laughing

Well, if nothing else, he has the perfect initials for Washington! whistle

Is there anyone with the initials "BM"? scratch

laughing and a huge tax increase for the wealthy. And of course the middle class. Just curious if the rich get taxed more then wouldn't they have to cut jobs and thus more people on unemployment? I'm so confused. I can't wait to hear the Governor reply tonight.

Who's bad mouthing him? He's in charge right now so it's expected that he should get questioned since it involves the American people. Bush was constantly attacked but he's out now. Hasn't BO just added a ton of debt to this country?

lmao! now thats funny.  I dont have a problem with people questioning him. As citizens its our obligation to question, to make sure our leaders are doing right by us.  I have a problem with people posting falsehoods and only posting to stir the pot. And bush may be out but the damage he caused will be with us for many, many years.

Yes he has added debt. Debt that will hopefully turn the economy around. create jobs. stop people from losing their homes, life savings..etc. I dont know if it will work or not but I do know doing nothing will not help. Im not one of those who think the economy will fix itself.

I watched the whole thing  last night and I must say the Governor was the best part of the whole speech. Obama is a good speaker but he did some non-truths when he said there are no earmarks in that stimulus package. Then he proceeds to say how much he is going to do and I'm thinking chaching as I'm watching the price tag keep going up. Then there's this cut the deficit in half.I go ok. Magic wand somewhere in the picture. I was not at all impressed. The only thing I liked was when he said we should be proud of our troops.

So you were the one! laughing   Not many people even bothered.  The newspapers yesterday were already saying not to expect anything impressive or worthwhile about it.

If it weren't for the republican rebuttal after I wouldn't have. I get nauseous when I listen to Obama.
