I've noticed that most other sweepstakes sites have started charging members to use their sites.  I love the fact that SweepsAdvantage is free!  Are there any plans to charge for admission?  I don't know how the site is funded - what can we do to keep it free?

Yes most of the other sites have already or are converting to a paid model. ( You pay a monthly or annual fee to access the site and features ) .

We did experiment a little with a paid version but we were not happy with the response so we decided to stay free. We've adopted a Yahoo type model where we try to add content for free that should provide lots of traffic.

The challenge with this model is that we need sponsors to fund the site and keep it free. Some sponsors love sweepstakes traffic while others don't like to deal with sweepstakes oriented traffic.

Our History:

Me and my wife started the site on March 19, 1997 and we have only 2 employees ( me and my wife Diane.. can't count the dogs Smile .  We have 2 kids Jeff (22) and Kristine (10).

The site always had tremendous traffic but I had to work doing tech support while my wife kept the house and the site going. We did this for quite a few years up until the past year.

For the past year we have been doing many upgrades and we have developed many new features to improve the site over all. Keeping the site going and hosted, upgrades and development is costly because all of the data ware housing from sweepscheck and my sweepstakes keeps expanding.

Its a 12 hour daily struggle but we are keeping at it and we hope that sponsors or potential sponsors take notice.

Our Commitment:

1. Free Membership
2. More sweepstakes that any other site on the net.
3. Good quality, ( sweepstakes are reviewed 3 times )
4. Positive place to be, Friendly atmosphere
5. Easy to use features

How you can help Keep Us Free:

1.  Tell people about us
2.  Use our google search or visit the google advertisers.
3.  If you shop online try going thru us instead ( amazon and ebay links on main page )
4.  If you already have Broadband Try Vonage & Save.

5.  These sponsors really help us and don't cost anything

a.  American Dream Card Sweepstakes

b.  Away.com - Trip of your Choice
http://www.sweepsadvantage.com/go.php?id=48059

c.  Club Mom Sweepstakes

d.  Direct Scholar Sweepstakes

e.  Term in a Minute - Free Quote
http://www.sweepsadvantage.com/go.php?id=51264

f.  General Freebies
http://www.sweepsadvantage.com/browsenew.php?cat=7

6. Most of the newsletters have the sponsors at the top, please visit them.

If everyone can help keep our sponsors happy then we can keep the site running fast and keep making improvements and most important of all keep the sweepstakes coming!

When you think about it taking advantage of our sponsors is not much
diffrent than watching TV and viewing commercials in exchange for the free entertainment.  :D

Thank You,

-Ken

.....Ken,
I truly appreciate what you and your wife have built here for all of us
to fulfill our sweepstakes addiction with....ya'll have done a fantastic
job here, and ya'lls hard work has not gone unnoticed.....please tell
the wife of my thanx....one thing that keeps me as a dedicated fan of
Sweepstakes Advantage, is the welcoming and good spirited moral
that gleams here as if it was an aura.....I have never witnessed any
negativity or unmannerly posting from any of the members or the
guests that have posted on this site....I would have to say that it
could possibly because you have a site that is exclusively for sweeps
and have stayed away from having forums that have topics for ones
to post about other issues that are irrelevant to sweepstakes....I
have visited other sweep sites that have forums of this nature, and
those sites are full of total chaos and are not a pleasure to visit for
a serious sweeper....I had never in my life thought that I would see
people getting banned from a "Sweepstakes" site....but, I have seen
it over and over on sites that are not exclusive for sweepstakes and
contests....and...what's funny...is that those are the ones that you
have to pay to use.....hahaha...I am so glad to hear that you and the
wife are not wanting to make this a pay site...I really admire the fact
that ya'll must be aware that sweepers aren't the richest folks...or we
wouldn't be trying to win whatever is out there they are giving away.
I try to contribute by posting a sweep that I might stumble on that I
haven't seen you post yet...I hope that it is of some help on your
sweep scavenger hunt mission....sometimes i feel that my sweep
find postings are really of a nuisance for I am not the most
knowledgeable person when it comes to computers....and I do not
know how to do those fancy functions that I see others do...maybe
you can tell me how to do that function where you can post the addy
for the sweep and have it to where you can just click on it from my
post to go directly to the sweep.....I know that probably irritates the
H*E double toothpicks out of my fellow sweepers that I dont do that
for them.....but, then again....it'll keep them on their toes..haha...no
really....inform me how to do that, if you don't mind....oh...before I
turn you loose...I read in your post about the "google" search thingy
I was the one that inquired way back when you took it down...but,
you posted as if it was back...now where did you hide that thing at..I
have only seen the "yahoo" clicker thingy...maybe i misread your
post....but, I have to say....I do miss my ole "google" buddy...so, if
ya'll did bring it back....point me to it....anyways....Ive had your ear
long enough....but, once again....I very much appreciate the hard
work and time that ya'll put into this site for me and the other
sweepsters to enjoy....the best to you and the wife....Ya'll Rock!!!!!
        ....ciao...iamthewalrus9...goo..goo..goo...joob....

Thanks for all the great comments and sweepstakes help. They are never a nuisance.  :D  Members like yourself and other members keep this place fair and positive.

As for the Google Sweepstakes News.. It was replaced by Yahoo Sweepstakes News. Yahoo has what is called a RSS news feed and we are able to tap into that. Where as I don't think that Google has the same type of feed.  But even though Google does not have a RSS news feed I was able to find a tool that creates one.  Now the following news page has both Yahoo & Google Sweepstakes News.

You can also get Google Sweepstakes News Alerts in Your Email Daily: http://www.google.com/alerts?hl=en

Enjoy!

Just wanted to say thanks for the Google alert info.  I'm new to some of this stuff and I just signed up for that after reading your message.  Now I understand a posting that I read here a few days ago about someone "Googling" sweeps.  I didn't know what they meant at the time.  Thanks again.
