I think we could use a subforum for items wanted in the Trading forum. That would be easy to implement.  Smile

Thoughts of adding a similar one to same place.

Giveaways?

Some people post things for free, typically codes for say 48 Hour XBox or something else.

Sometimes I'm not sure if some of the things people post are meant to be given away for free or not as you can't always tell from text.

Thanks for the update. A question about the tabbed search box....

There is a slight delay on when the text field shows up when the page first loads. Is that on purpose so that people must at least look at the ads some? With the old version you could have basically entered a search query before everything was fully loaded. Now you cannot.

This has been fixed. The search box now loads quickly and we added a freebie search. The search tabs are also memorized. If you always use for example "my search" it will remember that and automatically auto select the my search Tab when you view a page with the search box on it.

Hi everyone!   Waving  I need some help....is there a way to find sweeps with lots of prizes being given out?  I don't mean instants...I just mean is there a way to search for amounts of prizes?  I'm fairly new here, and am trying to figure this all out.  Any help would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance!!!   sunny

If you search for the letters ARV you will get all the sweepstakes that list the value in the description or you can use this link below:

I have another idea.  No running for cover, I think it is an easy one!   laughing

I was wondering if there is a way for sweepscheck to automatically save after a minute or so?  I ask this because once in a while, when I click save my sweepstakes, I get an error page.  I then have to go back and remember which ones I entered, put into my sweepstakes...  If that's not possible, is it possible to get a check all boxes feature.  It will make rechecking the boxes easier.

Sorry about the laziness.  I just really have nothing else to complain about here, so I try to find things!   laughing  (Just kidding.)

An autosave would require the page to reload every x minutes or so. I think some members might consider that a nuisance. As for the check all or uncheck all you can do this with your keyboard. Press ( Alt + ) to check all and (Alt - ) to uncheck all.  I can look into putting some javascript on the page that would do this also, but the keyboard combo should get you going with that for the time being! Smile

An update on this features list: We are having a difficult time with the custom my sweepstakes categories. I may have to consult with someone to get this completed. We have also had some bugs along the way that we needed to fix. Big on existing features need to take priority over any new features.

When you get an error from using the save can you write down that error and the time that is occured and send it over? Thank You.

Alt + is a RoboForm thing, not standard.

By the way, I agree that reload is bad.

I've tried the alt +, but it won't save them when I hit save.  That is why I was wondering if there is another way.  Sorry, I didn't realize about the page refresh thing.

I'd be happy to write down the error code for you when it happens.  It's not too often, so as soon as it happens, I'll make sure to get it to you.   Smile

Thanks for the quick input.

I see what you mean about the check all. For some reason it does not generate the same result as the mouse click and does not let you save. I'm pretty sure I can re-use the select all funtion from the expired my sweepstakes page and get an option going that can be used to check all for saving. Back to the drawing board.  Right.. the Alt+/- is just a Roboform thing. Should have mentioned that.  whistle

I see your point LIDARKSIDE , but when we try to do a change that benefits very few members, it becomes a "make work" type of situation, and we are all trying to keep up with all the new sweeps and admin works diligently on perfecting this site.

When I meet people and tell them about sweeping, the first thing I tell them is to plan on spending a LOT of time at first going through each category they are interested in so they don't miss good sweeps.

With the SweepsCheck (AWESOME tool btw) it makes it so easy to quickly go through a category and catch any you may have missed.

I see on the home page there is also a link to Browse Sweepstakes By Prize - I don't see Wedding as a search term, so I'll mention it to Ken and perhaps that will help?

How about having a user-settable set of prizes/strings show up in their pulldown?

For instance, Wii isn't in the list either. Something I previously was constantly looking for, though no longer am. Zune also isn't there, though I have no interest in that. Just a string I would think some folks would want. Hey, how about Simpsons... Smile

This actually brings me to the next suggestion. How about the whole list being user settable, with you just suggesting what the initial set is, but allowing users to REMOVE some also? I never select Canada from the list. How about allowing me to remove it?

Also, why isn't "Automobile" in alpha order? Guitar and Video, too. Pet Stuff is also off by one.

Just some ideas to help you improve the site.....

Wolfie thinks Johnny is a computer Geek!   headbang  You and Ken speak a foreign language to me.

Hey, I have another idea.   headbang  I was wondering, if somewhere down the road we could figure out a way to keep a personal winners list.  Maybe have a form for contest, prize won, year won and ARV.  I like to keep track, but would probably do better if it was all here.  Nothing that has to happen, just something that would be fun to have.

Thanks for considering.

We'll take all of these into consideration. Just one thing to keep in mind is that we don't want to make SA too technical in operation. This could scare people away from ever using the features in the first place.

We get allot of feedback email everyday just from the features that we already have and simplicity with any new feature will be key.

thanks for the suggestions.  Smile

Above all, I think creating inducements for site members to add sweeps would benefit the site more than anythingl. Also, the procedure to do so could be streamlined, as well as a way for them  to track what they added. The Add A Sweep form seems geared toward site owners, although it is very easy to use.

Of course, this is less technical in nature and more of a content thing.

We can probably look into rewarding contribution of sweepstakes down the road. We need to get better sponsorship for the site so that we can continue to offer the site for free handling all existing costs first.  Smile

Hi Folks,

Just wanted to update you on SA Website updates. We had to put some of these bigger projects on hold due to the expense of needing some additional development help. We fully intend on getting all this done and we appreciate your patience and understanding in advance.

3 New Categories have been added to SA. DVD, CD and Kid Sweepstakes. We will start populating these tomorrow. New My Sweepstakes Lists for these have also been created.  Waving

Great news.  cheers

How about a category for local contests? The locals kind of get lost in the local forum thread.

I would like the option to turn of the email messages when there is a reply to a note. Plenty of times I receive an email about a note for a sweep I'm no longer entering or don't want to follow up on and it gets annoying. Turning the spigot on and off would be nice.

Do you mean in the forum or the comments for each sweepstakes in the directory? Thank You

I would think the comments, as I've had times where I haven't been able to unsubscribe or I get multiple emails if I click on notify me of replies multiple times for a thread that I've replied to multiple times.
