I live in the country and I have a P.O. Box number. I also have a 911 address but it is not verifiable by the US postal system. Many of the sweeps I try to enter come up sorry no p.o. boxes. I use both my 911 address and my p.o. box address on my sweepstakes. I wonder how many wins I have been disqualified from because my address is not verifiable with the US postal system.

I filed a complaint with our local post office but I lost because the post master claimed we have too many curves in our road for home mail delivery. The truth is that their is only one curve in our road. To make matters worse the houses on the upper road right up the street from us which are walking distance to the post office all have home mail delivery. I wonder if I have any other options?

Anyone have any suggestions on what I can do?

scratch Too many curves? That is the most ridiculous excuse I have ever heard. If that was the case, most of the people around here wouldn't get mail either. There should be an appeals process at a higher level. If you can't find it by doing a search online, your local postmaster will have an address or phone number for you.

I know that my Grandparents have to have a PO box also.  Everyone in their town does ~ I just don't understand that.

Is there ANY local people that have mailboxes?  If so, you might be able to take up a case, if not, then you probably won't have much choice.  In our county, everyone has local delivery, and can rent a PO box if they want to.

scratch Just a question, but how do UPS and Fedex deliver to you? They have to have an address, at least I always thought they did.

I'm in the same box (ha, ha. Well, I thought it was funny laughing) We also have a PO Box and a physical address. Fed Ex and UPS have to have our physical address to deliver anything so I don't even bother giving them the PO Box number. I have resorted to putting both my PO Box number and my physical address in the address spaces in contests. I can't help it if according to the United States Postal Service, I don't live where I live. I've gotten tons of error messages saying that my physical address is not valid. I pinky swear that I really live here, I really do!!! I don't know of any way to get around it other than putting my PO Box and my physical address in the spaces and hope that I don't get disqualified because of having a PO Box. Why is there such discrimination against us PO Box users? It's just not fair......

Because of fraud/cheating on rebates and snail (mail-in) sweeps.  nono

That's why they don't allow PO boxes on rebates, snail, and now online sweeps - too many people were greedy and since it was much easier to just disallow them than verify the real ones...

This also blocks miltary, since when stationed overseas, they are assigned PO boxes - I did a TON of snails in the 80's while stationed in GITMO, and it wasn't until I started doing online sweeps did I learn that I wasted my time/energy/stamps - HUNDREDS in stamps!!!  cry

So, don't blame the sponsors, it's just the usual - the unethical ruin it for the rest  nono

One option you have is to open up a mailbox in the nearest town that would have such a place (i.e. Mail Boxes, Etc.).  These places, although they are technically postal boxes, your actual address would be a street address (such as:  Jane Doe, 123 Oak Street, #340, Big Town, AR).  You could then drive into this town on a regular basis, and pick up all the mail you have sent to that address (like contests, rebates, etc.).

Or, you could schedule a once-a-week forwarding of all the mail received at this mail box place, to your actual PO Box where you live.  The mail box place would package up all the mail, say, at the end of the week, then mail it to you.  I used to do that...I lived in Arkansas, but had an active mail rental box in San Francisco.  This place would then send me collected mail on a schedule I chose.  This is perfectly legal and provides you with a private address to use as well.  (Now, don't ask me why I wanted this sort of service... nono laughing)
