A little boy about 11 years old is in the hospital since yesterday. Here is what happened, two boys who were taught strict rules about guns they're whole lives and very religious were outside target shooting (I think) and they thought the BB gun was on safety, one of the boys put the gun to the others chest and the gun went off. This BB gun is a high powered pump bb gun. The bb went through his chest, through his lung and is now lodged in his heart.

I don't know anymore to the story and the parents phones are dead so our calls and messages are not getting through at this time. Please keep this little boy in your thoughts and prayers as well as the boy who was holding the gun because, his heart is very heavy right now with what has happened. No one knows what made him even point that gun towards his cousin, it's not like him to do this.

These are VERY, VERY good people and no matter how much these boys have been taught it shows you must always supervise your children with any type of guns and keep them locked up.

I had a long talk with my kids today again about guns, this is really scary. Especially a BB gun doing this much damage to him.

I hope and pray for everyone involved that the boy is okay...his poor cousin!  Probably just fooling around...we had a friend of the family that actually shot and killed his cousin when I was smaller so I know the way things can take a bad turn quick!  The families have never been the same, of course!  Keep us updated please!

Thank you Tammy, I will update as soon as I hear more. I hope that somehow I can find out more info tomorrow. I know the hospitals won't give any information out so I will continue to ask around until the parents can get back to everyone.

I am sorry to hear about this how sad for all involved.

Lord only you know the outcome of this situation but I am believing it will be a good one. Be with the families of both children and get them to the other side In Jesus name I pray Amen.

Thank you very much for the thoughts and prayers. I haven't heard any news yet, praying it's good news when we do. They have prayer chains going on all over, especially within the church they all attend.

Thank you all so much for the thoughts and prayers. I just got an update on him, I was told he is doing good but, still having tests ran on him and staying in the hospital probably a few more days to keep an eye on him.

No, it's not. I don't want to disclose his name in case the parent's don't want it shared but, I believe in Tallahache (sp) or Yolabusha county. They have everything really weird out here with counties, I am in Panola but, you would think I should be in Yolabusha.
Thank you for adding him. His name does start with a C, I haven't checked to see if it's in the newspaper, I doubt it is but, never know.

Hey all, "C" is home! He came home a few days ago. The are leaving the BB there for now and will take frequent X-rays for now, they are afraid to remove it at this time. He is ordered not to do anything for about a month and has to lay around. He was in church the other day with the kids, thank god he is going to be ok! Thank you all so much for the prayers and good thoughts.

Quote
They are often thought of as toys, but BB guns and other nonpowder guns are sometimes lethal and injure as many as 21,000 Americans each year, according to a new report.

Nonpowder guns kill an average of four Americans yearly, and from 1990 to 2000, there were 39 such deaths -- 32 of children younger than 15, according to the report in November's issue of Pediatrics.

The report, published Monday, comes just two weeks after the BB gun death of an 8-year-old South Carolina boy accidentally killed by a 13-year-old friend. The pellet pierced the boy's heart, said Richland County coroner Gary Watts.

"These are not the kinds of BB guns that I grew up with," Watts said. Today's BB guns "are extremely high-powered," and some can shoot with a velocity nearly matching a .22-caliber rifle, Watts said.
