I have a Compaq Presario Notebook PC (Windows XP professional edition) V516OUS that I purchased in 2006. The system is down and seems irreparable. It states along with the notebook, "If you need to repair your system, you can do it from your hard drive or from your own set of recovery disc. To burn your own set of recovery disc, use PC Recovery disc creator". I never did burn a recovery disc to have just in case. Does someone have the same notebook as mine and you have a recovery disc that you can burn me a copy? I would appreciate to see if it will bring the system back up. Thanks for any help.

QUESTION : A friends computer has a bad hard drive and will not start. We have the identical computer model. Can I make a set of recovery discs on my computer and loan the recovery CDs to my colleague?
ANSWER : Yes, this is possible, however, there are disadvantages:

    *
The original computer that created the recovery CDs can no longer create any more recovery CDs for itself (in case your colleague loses or damages your set of recovery CDs).
    *
The computer that was recovered with the set of CDs from the first computer will no longer be able to create a set of discs.

 Waving sonyarn97

When I did a search to see if you could order them from the company {since you didn't mention you did a search} I found that & posted it to let you know it looked to be a difficult task & I figured you could explore the site to see if you could get help through them or find a site where you'd be more likely to find Compaq Presario Notebook PC (Windows XP professional edition) V516OUS owners.

Since I have a DELL, it was the best I could do.  Smile

Thanks Amy. I won a prize back in 2006 and bought the laptop. It's basically gone. The one thing I failed to try is the recovery disc. No, I haven't checked the computer company. I don't even have the money if the disc costs a lot. I am just going to keep trying.

I would contact Compaq Support and see if they can send you one. Most times they'll just charge for the shipping.
