Well the other day I noticed a spot on kaileys cheek. It looked kind of like a bite mark, then a little while later it was like really dry skin, red circle and white in the circle. I was like eww what is that. But its real little. Well anyways. I've seen people with ring worms before, and didnt think that was what it was because it wasn't raised or anything. Well we had a dinner with my family, and my dad and mom saw it. My dad freaked he was like thats ring worm, bla bla. So I talked to her teacher the next day and the nurse confirmed it. I got the fungus cream stuff. And bandaids. My question is. How is the fastest way to get rid of it?
And I'm scared to keep the bandaids off of it. Kailey keeps wanting to touch it, if theres no band aid on it. And I def don't want to get it.

Ring worm is just a fungus. Many times it goes away on its own. I'd leave it uncovered though, it will dry up quicker. Sun exposure (in moderation, of course) helps clear it up.
What with having no immune system to speak of and fostering cats I've had it about 15,000 times.

Its no biggie if you get it, just put cream on it. Clears up in no time.
Lime sulfur dip is what I use on the cats

I was thinking if i kept it uncovered she would touch it and get it on me, or on another part of her body or something. Is that just me being stupid, or can that really happen?

I've never known it to spread much after you start treating it. scratch The cream pretty much knocks it out. Then the scaley patch has to heal up. I've got eight kittens now so I should have it again soon laughing

The boys get it every year during wrestling.  We buy Tinactin or Lotrimin for it but we do keep it covered while they're at school or around other kids because it will spread.  I would say what you are doing with the cream is the fastest way to get it to go away.  My step-dad is old school(he's 67) and suggested bleach, but you can't put that on Kailey's cheek and it doesn't make it go away any faster from when we've tried it.

Is Kailey a thumb sucker?  The neighbor boy who plays with my youngest is a thumb sucker and he always seems to have it on his neck, cheeks,  or ears.  If you aren't putting a band-aid on it at bedtime, I'd change her pillowcase every night as well, to keep it from spreading to other parts of her face.

Poor thing.  I hate ringworm.  Give her a big hug from me and a nice treat  love

Nope no thumb suckers here. Smile So lucky that she never picked up on that.
I think its so wierd she got it on her cheek. Its real little to. LIke the size of a dime. Its right between her ear and her cheek.
Well kailey started swim practice last night. I stuck one of those water proof bandaids on it. She swam good. But when they were playing after practice the bandaid started falling off. I told Kailey to get out of the pool so that I can push it back on her face.
But noooo Kailey never listens to me. She swam underwater, and we lost the bandaid. Well I freaked out, I didn't want anyone seeing it on her face, or whatever. Or catching it. So I made her get out.
The bandaid did pretty good though, swim practice was an hour. It doesn't seem to bother her that much though. It bothers me alot. She wants to hug me, and I see myself avoiding her cheek. Even when she has the bandaid on.

But I guess there are other moms that have there things they dont like.

tiff, don't feel bad.  I do the same things with the boys, even if they have it on their arm or leg AND we have a band-aid on it.  They want to snuggle and I can't say no so I try to snuggle on their non-infected side LOL

I imagine the chlorine helps dry out the fungus so that's good that she had swimming practice last night.  It would normally take a week or two to be TOTALLY gone on the boys.  Totally gone meaning there isn't a trace left that they even had it, depending on how big it is.  They usually get a medium-sized patch of it.  It's about as big as a quarter.

There's a kid at school that even my hubby fears during wrestling season.  He gets them as big 2 or 3 quarters put together.  How the hell they get so big like that is beyond me!  It's not his fault, entirely.  His parents,we believe, aren't ensuring he bathes after practice or a match.  Hubby finally had had enough of being paranoid and demanded the kid have to wear a bandage to cover the area.  His parents knew better because they only allowed him to go w/o a bandage during practice, never a match.  He would have been disqualified if so.

Still better than what was going around here...we had staph going around.  Caitlyn got it on both of her legs...thank God that it wasn't MRSA ~ but several of the kids had it also.  They talked about closing down the schools to have them cleaned for awhile, but ended up not doing it.  They went in and cleaned out the locker rooms and showers and things seem to have calmed down now.

It was funny though ~ they brought in the drug-sniffing dogs to do a drug check and they ended up pullling Caitlyn out of the lineup ~ the dog smelled her cream on her legs and thought it was some kind of drugs...like to have embarrassed Caitlyn to death!!

OMG poor thing!! LMAO!!  It's just the cream I swear!!!

They cleaned the schools here too.  Didn't shut them down, just disinfected everything which is good.

lol I bet she was embarrassed. Hopefully she didn't have to explain to all the kids why she was wearing that cream.

Kailey is loving swim practice btw. Today they let them swim a lap. It was so cute. Kailey jumped in like a little dog. And swam underwater then doggie paddled, tried to use her arms. Then swam to the wall and stopped. I told Kailey to keep swimming. The coach came up behind me and said its ok, its the first time, they are allowed to grab the wall.   whistle  Opps. lol
