First day and wouldn't ya know it.. issues.. Im up at the bus stop for half an hour waiting on the kids.. Im worried so I call the school and ask ummm, where are my children?  oh, the bus is still here. ( they showed up almost 45 min later than they should have)  hmmm,  did you consider calling the parents to let them know... nooooooooo.. and its not like its a school with 1,000 students.. maybe, maybe.. 25 kids ride their bus. im being generous.. There are maybe 400 students in the entire elementary and middle school combined. Its not a big school. They could have called. They did this same nonsense last year. Considering im paying for my children to ride the bus I expect to be told when they aren't going to be at the stop when they are supposed to be. Is it to much to ask? Its not like it was 5 or 10 minutes late.

First day of school I almost had a heart attack ~ I was thinking Ashelyn should have been home at 3:00.  Well at 3:30 I really start to get nervous at 4:00 I was pacing the floor and at 4:30 I was calling the school bus garage demanding to know where my kid was error  Funny thing though  whistle  I forgot that she is in middle school now and doesn't even get out of school until 3:30 so I had all my times mixed up laughing  Needless to say, I felt like an idiot and called the lady at HOME that night to tell her I was sorry that I was flipping out on the phone crazy tongue

I think you had every right to be mad, Trace.  I would have been.  I worry!

Our schools are just as small and if a bus has a flat tire or whatever the schools are good about calling the parents, thankfully!  In the winter and with all of the snow we get I can't breathe until they get home!

well at least my daughter doesn't have that $%&^* music teacher this year so that's one less thing I gotta worry about.   laughing  I'm happy they are back in school but I hate having issues with buses, teachers, and homework.   whistle    I hope this bus thing isn't going to be a regular thing.. I don't have the temperament to deal with these kinds of issues on a recurring basis. oh, and they raised the bus fees by $5.00 nice huh..    cussing

They did have a good day though. The boys especially.  oh, I almost forgot they sent this paper home saying that all buses now will have audio and video surveillance and my oldest boy told me they said that the audio was going to be used to listen to their conversations..  laughing  I doubt it.. maybe if there is a fight or something they will listen but who the hell wants to listen to audio of a bunch of yelling, screaming kids.. not me.

So what time is it where you guys are because it's only 1 here. Do the kids get off at 2?

they only went half a day today.. they got out at 11:30..dont ask me why... another stupid thing they do..  tomorrow starts the regular hours of 8:20 till 3:20..

Yep!  Some of our buses have video surveillance but I don't know about audio.  They're working to get all of the buses equipped with them.  I know last year the bus drivers were complete nazis.  They started power-tripping before the kids even got on the bus.  My son and another student weren't boarding the bus fast enough and laughed when the female nazi told them to move their butt.  She gave them detention and I don't mean like lunch detention or whatever.  It was hardcore!  I forget what they call it but it is only held on Friday and it lasts til 8PM.  I am not permitted to bring him dinner but can send him to school with a snack the day of.  I'm sure you all can guess how I felt about that  laughing

My son is no angel, but he's not a "problem" kid.  I can see writing him up or writing him up andcalling home.  I can see giving them lunch detention or after-school detention.  But a 6-hour detention?  GTF outta here!

That seems cruel to make kids wait probably 7 or 8 hours with only a snack. I would have a conversation about that with the principal or superintendent. Even if you don't agree that his behavior warranted that punishment withholding a meal from kids is completly unfair and potentially unlawful. I can see not allowing you to bring him fast food or something but he should be allowed to have a meal and a hot one if you/he chooses at the normal dinner hour.

Sorry I'm on a rant here. I'm just one of those people who needs to eat on a regular basis or I get VERY crabby. Speaking of which I think it's time for lunch  sunny
