Sony Rewards Question

I don't think I totally understand how the Sony Rewards points work. If someone who is more familiar with them can help explain, I'd appreciate it.
I currently have over 3,000 points. I figured I had enough points to pick up a DVD and found one I wanted for about 2,400 points. Shouldn't the points cover the full amount? When I tried to check out, it knocked off 500 points and wanted me to authorize a credit card payment for the 1,900 ($19) over the 500. What am I missing here? Thanks!

I think you have it right. I quit doing Sony points along time ago when I realized that the price you are required to pay after the points were deducted was still much more than I could get it for elsewhere.

If you have a sony card they will let you use all your points on that item. But if you dont sorry but you can only use 500 points!
