If you are prone to hysterics, or to being overly maudlin please skip over this....

I wanted to apologize to anybody that may have posted to one of my comments AND FAILED TO HEAR BACK FROM ME....

....last Wednesday I got a call from a kennel here on the island that I was to pick up "Montana' on Thursday.   What???  Well, Montana is a husky/malemute mix dog that belongs to one of my older clients.  (I care-give for several people here on the island.)  So, I am going "what in the chicken-feathers" is going on here?  So I call the kennel and they tell me that Montana was picked up and 'checked-in' on Sunday the 12th and I was supposed to pick her up on the 16th.   Well....I knew my client hadn't gone off island (she can't drive) ... so why send the dog to the shelter?

So, I call out there to my client's house and the phone is off the hook.  NOT good.  Hop in the car, dash out to her place.  As I reach the door I see a living will/medical intervention sticker taped to the window next to the door...I don't wanna go in...but I have to as a human being.

Yep,  upstairs there she is...semi-comatose...naked on the bed, smeared with bm, and OD'ed on booze and Valium. Dial 911 and ...you know the rest.

so... i have spent the last week getting to know ICU nurses, social workers, and state mental health officials.  She now on an involuntary commitment at a local hospital.  and I just got home.  But somebody has to be there for every person....I just hope somebody will be there for me when I need them...

....I'm tired and emotionally drained...it is good to be home again!

sooo tired..

omg I am so sorry you had to experience that. This shows that you are a brave caring person to actually go in and deal with all that. I know if it was me, I would have freaked and got someone else to check it out.
Go get some rest or sleep, or watch a good movie. So you can "have a mental vacation".
Waving hope it all works out.

WOW!  I hope your client will be ok.  It is a good thing you went there.  I can't imagine how drained you must be right now.  Get some rest.

Your figuring it out saved her life!   headbang

Sweet Dreams!

cheers Bottoms up  Loren! I knew that I liked you from the first time you ever posted here and now I know that it is more than just your great sense of humor. I am also a caregiver and I know it isn't always a walk in the park. Thank God that you got there in time and knew what to do.
Way to go Loren!!  cheers

Wow, now I know why your posts are always so funny.  You must have a good sense of humor to stay sane after that.  I think what goes around comes around so you can probably bet that you will be cared for in your time of need.

Wow, loren, you have shown us another side of yourself through that story, very compassionate and responsive. I agree with fearsgirl, "what goes around comes around" in one way or another.

I had expected your post to be something like, you were away, diving at the Great Barrier Reef. This is a surprise.

Take care, and when you kick back with that beer, try not to spill it on your keyboard this time.  cheers
