Hello Members,

I'm sure you are all aware that the economy is really bad right now. SA is a home business
owned by I and my wife. We rely on the sponsorship revenue from Google Ads, Google
Search and the commercial ads in between some sweepstakes on the site to stay funded.

I know many people don't like to click ads because they feel they are spammy. I can tell
you that we regularly filter out these types of ads from Google so that we are left with
mostly sweepstakes sponsor sites. *So please check out our sponsors.

Even though we are a free site we've never asked for donations because it is so easy
for anyone to keep us funded by regularly checking out our sponsors. Even by regularly
using the Google Search box in this forum helps us.

Please help us stay funded and "online" during this tough economy. SA will remain free
and we'd like to stay that way for people who are down on their luck and cannot afford
a premium membership.

God Bless and Thank You,

Ken & Diane

Ken

If my understanding of Google ads is correct, you will be paid a few pennies every time someone clicks on an ad. It is not necessary for us to sign up for anything (But you probably get a commission if they do). If this is the case, I can’t see why the members of this site who spend 2 to 3 hours entering contest that you work so hard to find for them can not spend 5 or 10 minutes to click on a few ads.
It cost us nothing and will help out a great !!!! Site stay free.

Thanks for all your work

sunny  Now that you have brought this up I have a couple of questions. I know that the ads that pop up while entering sweeps on my sweepstakes help to make money for you. I try to let them play thru until the sweeps comes up rather than clicking Skip Ad, but do you get paid every time I let it run through or do you only get paid once a week, once a month for every time I let it play?
Also on the google ads that I click on, do I need to stay at the site it takes me to for a certain length of time before you get credit?
I have some friends that earn money this way, but I know that they don't get credit if I were to go there everyday and click on the same ads.
I want to help, but also want to make sure that you get credit for the clicks and time spent.

It differs from sponsor to sponsor. For the commercial ads that display in between sweepstakes we only get paid if you enter that sweepstakes or submit your info. Like the free poker ad that is running in my signature. I only get paid if someone signs up for the free poker. Sadly I can tell you not a single member has signed up for this offer via my signature.   cry

I actually play this nlop poker and it's great. I try not to push offers that I wouldn't use myself.

I can't tell people what to do but I am only trying to make our members understand that this is the only way that the site will exist and remain free.

As for the Google ads if you look at them, most are tried and true big sponsors. Coke, Virginia.org etc.

We also took pop-ups off the site a few years ago to also make the experiance on SA more enjoyable.

Thanks to the members that understand the situation and already take part in our sponsors.

cheers Thanks for the answers. Just so you know I just downloaded the FREE online Poker from your signature. I need to brush up on my poker skills as it has been ages, but looks like a great place to do that and possibly win some $!

Given that most members don't come into the forum, maybe you should make mention of this on the homepage and/or new sweepstakes page!

If you use Google search via the forum and click any sponsors as a natural result of your everyday searches, yes. I and Diane were just talking about putting up a note some place other than the forum. Good Idea.

Thank You.

I am not sure how this works. I am planning to order from Cookies by Design in September, so I searched the SA Forum under the "Shopping" tab, but they are not listed. (If they were listed, and I ordered would that help SA?)

Next, I searched for "Cookies by Design" via Google on SA. They appear in the box on the top of the Google page, "Adds by Google." If I click on the ad in that box, and place my order by going that route, will it help SA? If so, I will order that way for this and other online shopping. Please let me know if I got it right! It is easy.

From the main page of SA we have a shopping section here:

http://www.sweepsadvantage.com/shopping.html

Anyone that shops via these links will help SA.

Here is the SA Shopping section search result for keyword cookie:

http://www.sweepsadvantage.com/search_shop.php?keyword=cookie

If you click sponsor shop listings from a Google search result that also helps.

Thank you for asking.

 sunny  For list of retailers:
    http://www.sweepsadvantage.com/shopping.html

if you already know your retailer you can go to the Home page search box, click on shopping and enter an online store to see if it is on the list.

I was looking all over the homepage for the list of retailer; but, for the life of me, I just didn't notice the category until I just looked closer.  Maybe, make that stand out more prominently and post the URL or list of referrel retailers under "Printable Coupons and Online Coupon Codes". popcorn

I'm clicking sunny. Maybe you need a nice big "help keep this site free" link? I'm with LDS, bigger, more obvious. I mean, I have a heck of a time with figuring out what to do on my coke rewards, anything subtle and its like "huh?". Brickbats, pleeze!

Have you ever thought about doing a rewards program.  I've been using several programs like this for years.  I also thought I would mention www.clickquick.com in case you weren't familiar with them, but you probably are! scratch

Thank you! If there is an online merchant that you cannot find in our shopping section just let us know and we'll see
if we can get them on the site.

We would also like to hear from everyone what the most popular shopping sites are. Maybe we can put those at the
top of the shopping page to make them easier to find.

Just doing a quick scan of the shopping sites, there were at least eight that I order online from frequently and I will place my orders through the SA links in the future.  I have two questions...

1.  Does it help SA if I visit the sites through your links without necessarily placing an order?

2.  What would be the chances of adding Cabela's, Gander Mountain, and Dungarees to the list?  Between my husband and son,  I feel like
I practically keep those places in business!!!
