Letters and e-mails advising Ottawa residents they have won a foreign lottery are a scam, police warned yesterday. The organized fraud section said it has received numerous calls in recent days about lottery sweepstakes letters that are seeking to obtain personal information and money through advance fees. Police are telling residents not to respond to any such offer. Anyone who would like more information is asked to visit the organized fraud section of the police website at www.ottawapolice.ca.
