I am frustrated with some of the sweepstakes out there and here is some just to name a few. Feel free to add your rants. White cloud worst bathroom contest, they have yet to put the finalists up to be voted on and was suppose to back in January. I have emailed them and no response yet. This sweep completely ends the beginning of March but, how will winners be chosen if no finalists was placed to vote for? International delight- How is it that the same people are winning over and over again yet, a majority of us cannot even win once? I am happy for the winners but, this game takes so long to do it would be nice to see some NEW winners. Sweeps with thousands of prizes, why is it so difficult to win any of them? I cannot even win the Tide sweep with 1000 prizes given away each day nor the philly sweep that is giving away 100 prizes a day. People entering several people into contests. Don't you know that you are taking away from even yourself by doing this and not just other sweepers? The only sweepers in this house is myself, dh and sometimes my kids if they qualify. I don't enter for my mom, dad, grandmother, grandfather, siblings, dog, birds, etc. You get the picture. Heck, even if I wanted to I don't know how people find the time! I barely have enough time to enter my own sweeps much less anyone else. Here is one for you. It wasn't here at SA but, I have my mp3 player up for sale at a few places. The sweep specifies that the retail of the mp3 is $250. I have been offered $50 or less for it....I am not looking for even close to the retail but, come on..please if you are going to make people offers for something? Please try to be a little more serious and fair with the offer. It doesn't matter if the prize was "free", it was my time and many, many tries to win these items. This happens to me all the time, especially with gift cards. A majority of the time people tell me I should give it to them for free since it didn't "cost" me anything. If a sweep says "one instant win per household" please abide by that rule! It is taking away from everyone else by winning multiple prizes after you win the first time. Alas, I still love entering sweepstakes. It's a great hobby for me and I have aquired many wonderful things since I began sweeping. GOOD LUCK SA!

I would love to win it just once and delete it forever. Every time I pass the product in the supermarket I think of the horrible game. I can't win Philly either.

I agree with you 100%. I can't figure out how some win over and over on the same sweeps. I know International Delight hates me...lol. I also agree with you about the multiple entries. I myself, play fair and that is the only way I want to win a prize. It's not a true win if you have to cheat to win it. OK, now that I've vented, back to sweeping. Good luck!

Rant on honey - I'm right behind you. I swear I will never buy another tin of International Coffee! EVER. I hate that game. And as for the people that enter themselves, their mom, their dad, their dog, their cat, their hairdressers cousins mother-in-law - May their computer crash at the very instant that they get a winning screen!!!!!!!!

I hate that sweep to. It takes so long to do. I only do it once a day. And do the word scramble thats the fastest/easiest. I'm really upset with the littlest pet shop one. I've sent 10 codes thats $8.10 in stamps. Entered the codes, and have won digital posters. Really I would rather have a were sorry. Instead of the digital codes. I think I would have more of a chance to win. And some of these sweeps that take sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo long to send the prizes away. "Not going to name names". But you have to pay $4 for s/h. whine, lol

Clearly the technology is available to refuse multiple entries from the same household or IP, since I get a "you've already entered today" message on some of them if it has been less than 24 hours since my last entry. Why don't more sweeps just build one entry per household into the system? It would be fairer to those of us who are single or don't have children, parents and extended family living with us, and prevent cheating via multiple e-mail addresses.
A while back I didn't believe that people were actually pushing it any further than the reasonable entries for members of their immediate households, but I am seeing lots of posts now about grandmas, sisters-in-law, etc. That stinks. As a person with a 2 member household, I can see why I don't win very often.

Oh yeah, those are more sweeps I cannot win. Allure, lucky breaks, etc. and the same people win numerous times.

Those KRAFT sweeps are my nemesis - it seemed like everyone at SA won from them but me & mine Truly - I cringe evertme I see a new one listed, but I enter - JIC this time will be different!!! As to people winning numerous times? As long as it's allowed by the rules, I see NO problem - and since I was on an awesome run of winning multiple times a week (sometimes multiple times a DAY!!!) I know it CAN be done, and I sure don't begrudge those that are in "the zone" because I know I might just be that person again!!! I don't like being upset with my fellow sweepers for something they have NO control over - if they time it right and a sweeps lets them win multiple times, I say KUDOS to them!!! 1x per HH is only fair to single (only sweeper in the house) sweepers - it's bad enough the kids sweeps limit it to 1 per HH - I always feel bad for those who have 2 or more kids!!! Anyway, limiting to 1 per HH to keep people from cheating IMHO defeats the purpose for the sponsors - why would they intentionally prevent their customers from playing/having a chance to win?

The one on the top of your head was a good one But, your comment about sponsors preventing people from winning and enjoying the contests that they put out there. I know several that my daughters fuss over who is going to enter. I have two daughters but one IP address soooooooo, only one entry for the most part.

If I'm not the winner I am happy as heck to see a SA member announce that they won! To me it's like someone in my family won when I see the post! And big kudos to the people that can win the limit on any instant, my hat goes off to all of you!

The sponsors make up the Rules for the sweeps. We post them. SA encourages people to follow the Rules. It's really easy to digress into a discussion of morals, but I'm not going to do it. We all have our own standards. The sponsors spell out their views in the rules. I don't always like the Rules either, but I am always greatful when I receive a prize!
For what it's worth, I haven't won the coffee sweep, the Kraft $100, or the cream cheese breakfast either. I've never won a trip, or a prize worth more than $500. I've been doing this for years and I still love it. There's always the hope and excitement that the Big Win is just around the corner. Usually, it turns out that it's just a t-shirt, but that's okay too. There's always the next one!

I only have one child (well, he's an adult now ) but when he was younger, I'd find sweeps for him and that's when I 1st noticed the limits - I never understood the logic behind that - seems to me the stress/strife that the parent(s) would endure having to decide which child can enter would forever put them off that product/service!!! Not to mention how the kid(s) would have a negative connection with them!!! Just seems kinda mean to me

GSW ~ you are my sweeping twin!! I am thrilled when I see SA members winning prizes ~ it gives me hope that maybe one of these days it will be me winning the car, or the trip, or the tv...I just don't dwell on how they are going to win and how many ways they are going to enter ~ that is their choice! I am just here to celebrate with them! So good luck to everyone ~ I hope everyone wins a big nice prize soon!!!

Personally, I don't worry about what other people are doing. Eprize has specifically said it is OK for a person to enter their husband, etc. with their permission. If someone has a problem with me entering my husband and son, then they need to take it up with the sponsor's. If the rules say 1 per household, then I enter just one person, but if the rules say per person, then yes, I will most definitely enter my husband if it's something I really want. It makes me sad that people are bitter about something that is perfectly legal, or wish something bad on them as if they are a criminal.
You misunderstood my post. My husband and children have entries into sweepstakes also. I am talking about people who enter for anyone and everyone including people not living in the household.

I think some of you might have misunderstood my rants and took them the wrong way. I am very happy for winners but, let me explain what I meant by some of the rants. It seems as if some of you think I am unhappy for winners, that is far from the truth. If I wasn't happy for winners, I would not take time out of my day to congratulate them.
Winning multiple prizes-It bothers me when the sweeps are 1x per household yet, several prizes won for that household and not caught by the sponsors. I don't mind seeing winners multiple times in sweeps that allow it, I would just like to also see some new winners as well. I personally won the Rachael ray sweep a few times, granted it was for small prizes but, I still won. I have received the messaged boards, 2 platter sets and 1 garbage bowl. I gave away all but one message board, my garbage bowl is cracked and I am sending my sister one of the platter sets.
I am not bitter as bunnytoes posted, as I already said the 4 of us enter sweeps if allowed per the rules. However, my husband doesn't enter nearly as many sweepstakes as I do. I don't see how people have time to enter EVERYONE they know into sweepstakes, I stay at home and barely have enough time to enter sweeps for myself much less everyone else.
I also want to add that I don't wish bad things on anyone, that is not my style. I believe in karma though.

Or people posting they enter for anyone besides immediate family/those in their house? I know I saw posts like those elsewhere, but it seems to me that SA sweepers are of a far different caliber!!! I know your post was a vent, and I took it as such - that White cloud worst bathroom contest must be especially vexing!!! And I do get your point on the International delight, but those that posted win(s) on it recently might have felt you were unhappy with them, rather than the sweeps/your lack of timing on it. When we post, what we write is open to interpretation - people can't see our expressions/hear our tone of voice, so posting our true feelings on a subject is bound to get responses we don't anticipate.

Miki, my response was not a putdown to you, but I get tired of hearing the morality police try to tell me what the proper etiquette is in entering sweeps. Maybe if some people put half as much energy in entering their own sweeps, instead of worrying about what other's are doing, they would win more. This is not directed at you, but in general. Just my 2 cents. Now, I'm off to enter for me, my husband, and my son. Wins to everyone today.
bunnytoes - I so agree with you. We do our utmost to inform, what sweepers do with that info is ultimately up to them I know I've (in the past) been upset when people in the same HH won multiple times from an IW - but in that case, it was stated as a 1 win per HH in the rules, and in the notes. As long as the rules say it's OK to win multiple times (like the Rachael Ray - I couldn't hit that one - a Kraft, of course ) per person, or even 1x per person, and someone posts multiple people won in their HH, I'm happy for them!!! I get that sweeping is in a sense competitive, but in my mind, it isn't - not really - so what others do doesn't affect/bother me - as long as they play by the rules

Remember when CBS sportsline started up and you could get a point a page click to trade in on stuff? Well, I automated it so it would click and click all day. I got coffee, and a nice flashlight...when MSN came along, I knew how to cheat at that, but did not. And as a result did not win a thing. The CBS thing was so long ago (this was before iwon existed, that long ago) that I had no idea what I was doing was wrong, it just seemed like a nifty way to get cool stuff. You may kill me at your leisure

This is a general statement and not directed at anyone in particular.
How anyone chooses to follow, interpret, or ignore the Rules is their business. SA posts the Rules so that everyone can read them and understand the sponsors' intentions.
However, if you come in here and tell everyone what you're doing, and it's in violation of the Rules, expect bad feedback from your fellow sweepers. Sit at your terminal and do what you want, but don't tell us about questionable behaviour. We can't stop anyone from breaking the Rules, but we can erase your posts if you come to SA and brag about it.

I used to enter sweeps for my mother when she was alive, and a trip to the Atlantis/Paradise Island was won under her name. The trip was FABULOUS, and one of my happiest memories of time spent with her. She was computerly challenged, and happy that I entered for her. I don't see any lack of ethics entering for a senior citizen who couldn't coordinate a mouse properly, and won't apologize for it. If I had a husband, I would enter for him as well.
My personal ethic is not to enter for things I don't want. If I see a valuable prize, like a baby carriage and crib set, I'll not enter and leave it for a mother or grandmother who could use it.
Whatever somebody else admits to doing, it's best not to act out by dissing those people, because every one of us has done some entering that another sweeper would not approve of.
