Hello Members,

All the sweepstakes from the site TheCelebrityCafe have been removed from Sweepstakes
Advantage due to multiple reports of virus intrusion.

Our member's computer safety is our first concern and this had to be done
to ensure this.

I appreciate your tips ( and they make sense ) but in this case it sounded like they were allowing some type
of adware or spyware to display on their site. We have never allowed banner ads like this to run on SA. Many people
who come to SA probably can't afford the latest antivirus or the best computer and I don't want to put them at risk
for allowing sweepstakes like this to be listed here.  Smile

I'm not finding any issues with Celebrity Cafe.  My anti-virus program has it at "low risk" which is normal and shows no signs of any viruses on the site.

My guess is is that there are a lot of people not doing a good clean up of their hard drive and cache and acquiring such things as nasty tracking cookies, hacker cookies, etc.

I'm sure whatever it is that is coming up on their computer is a third-party issue and not coming from Celebrity Cafe.  Whoever or whatever it is is probably just using Celebrity Cafe as a portal.  Good cleanup care of the computer and good anti-virus, anti-adware, and anti-spyware programs run regularly should correct the problem.

It is annoying to find that the Celebrity sweeps have been removed.  I've also never experienced a problem with the website.  It's a shame that a few people who cannot keep their own computers safe have forced the rest of us sweepers to have to go to their website directly to enter sweeps.  nono

There are a plethora of good, FREE anti-virus sites which will protect/detect viruses and malware.  The website www.cnet.com has programs for most everything.

I experienced it myself and I use a paid version of Norton Antivirus 2009. Sorry but we don't want to be responsible for websites that allow this type of advertising. I don't know if I would trust the free anti-virus versions. I guess they are OK if you can't afford Norton or Mcafee but they might not get regular daily
virus definition updates. With new viruses being created daily better to be safe than sorry.
