cussing cussing :cussing:I am really pissed off with these magazine sweeps..... to the point I won't even enter ANY of their sweeps anymore....

I got sent to collections over a $7 bill, I didn't even know I had.... When I went to the website and put in the account # on the collections bill, there were 5 other magazine subscriptions under this same account.... I had to go in and click on each one to cancel the subscription ..... I called the collections agency and they deleted the collections notice after I had to explain to them in detail that I must have entered these sweepstakes the magazine were offering and inturn they assumed I wanted the subscription....

Not happy about this going on my credit at all cussing cussing cussing

I just got a threatening letter from a collections company that was sent from Spin magazine. I never got an issue, just a threatening letter, and took this up with Spin's customer service. These magazines must be getting desperate lately, trying shove subscriptions at us then threatening if we don't pay. I told Spin I'll never ever subscribe on account of this.

These magazine sweeps aren't that bad.  As long as sweepers pay attention to what they are filling out...and read the fine print on the sweeps entry page...there wouldn't really be any unwanted subscription sign-ups.  True, if you accidently subscribe to a magazine while entering a sweeps, that's okay.  Just wait until the first unwanted magazine issue arrives in the mail.  Visit the magazine website; cancel the subscription.  Enjoy the magazine(s).  Threatening letters?  Never answer their letters unless they send a postage-paid return envelope.  Otherwise, only talk to magazine customer service via phone or email.  They are not going to sue anyone over a $7 magazine subscription, especially when there is no agreement and no actual proof that you subscribed to anything.  I like the motto "Get it in writing".

If you ignore them and throw them out (as you are suggesting...inthesticks)  U will get sent to collections like I did...

I've been entering sweeps long enough to know how to enter "them properly"  ... I'm well aware of opting out/or in.......

Some how somewhere down the line these subscriptions signed me up and then sent me to collections OVER 7 measly dollars..

You're not the only one having that problem. I have seen many, MANY people on other sites complaining about the same thing.

It's not the 'sweepers' fault. There's entirely too many people getting these subscriptions, for it to be OUR mistake.

As someone above posted, they do this and get to write it off. Most likely writing it off as some sort of freebie, give away, or advertising.
