This may sound silly, but I have absolutely NO idea what tweeting is, or the purpose of Twitter.  Can someone explain to me how it works, and how I would use it in sweeping (I see many blogs mention it)?

**oops...just realized this should've been posted in Questions/Answers.  Mods feel free to move if necessary!**

Okay. moved the note, now to answer your question.

"Tweeting" is a posted note on "Twitter".  Twitter.com is essentially an online bulletin board.  You can post short notes on you Twitter page and are limited to a sentence or two.  When you "Follow" someone else on Twitter, their updates show up on your page.  For example, if you are Following SA and Ken tweets "300 New Sweeps Today!", you see that note when you log in to your page.  The more people you Follow, the more stuff posts on your page.

More and more contests are showing up on Twitter.  I think the idea is that its free advertising for the sponsor.  If you have 25 people Following you and you tweet "Great new contest on This Hypothetical Site!", 25 people will see that announcement.

It does have the potential to get kind of spammy.  However, it is easy to un-Follow someone once their sweep ends.  Another plus - the Nigerian princes and International Lottery folks don't tweet.  Yet.

tweeting is what happens when you have finally hit a vegetative stage of life and can no longer pry thy buxom behind off the 'puter chair for important stuff like bowling, basting, baking, burping, bathing, breeding, breathing, or being bothersome, etc, etc, etc   laughing

I, too don't know anything about Twitter.  After reading the responses here I have figured out that it is mainly for brain dead people who have no life of their own    laughing  And the tweets only come to your very own Twitter page, not to your cell phone as I was under the impression they came to.  So many sweeps now are wanting you to tweet and lots more want you to have a Facebook page.  I don't tweet and  I am not sure what facebook is either.  Grandmothers were not born for modern communication methods I guess.  So .... is it difficut to set up a Twitter account or a Facebook page?  I assume both are free to use?!?  Do you have to post pics to either site?  Thanks for the help!

Waving A Twitter account is quite easy to set up. About the same as signing up for SA. About Facebook, I have no idea. And you can get Tweets on your cell phone; don't ask me how. Both sites are free, no picture for Twitter, Facebook I think you can or not as you see fit. You can use an avatar on twitter.
