2/8 update: Thank you all of my SA friends for voting for my cousin to win tickets and backstage passes to see George Strait in concert. They just found out via email that they won the contest!! This is the email my cousin sent me:
"I just wanted to let you know I received an email today letting me know that we won the first place package because of everyone who voted for us with your help!! I can't thank you all enough for spreading the news around to vote for Brandon and making this dream come true for him. We love you all so very much and pictures will be coming out next week to follow.

I can't tell you all how much I appreciate your all out effort for Brandon and Kelley. People look at me like I'm a nutbag when I tell them that I sweeps and about this website, but they don't understand that it's a community we've developed as well as people I would be willing to call family -- even though I've never met any of you!! (But maybe that will change!)

He and his wife have lived through their own private hell through his recovery, and all he wants to do is go back to Afghanistan and stand next to and with his unit. pxdjr - I've been out far longer than I was in {11+ years in about 20 years ago} but I sure do miss it!!! They instilled in me all the good qualities I lacked as a high school dropout, and I'll be forever grateful that I had the opportunity to be able to serve! I am heartened by the turning tide of appreciation for all our brave service members when I see a promo designed just for them, and it makes me so very happy all the doom and gloom of late is pierced by these rays of light! I'm not a Country music fan, but George Strait gets a special place in my heart for recognizing our best and brightest deserve the accolades!!! |
