There is no secret formula for winning, but there are some things you can do to increase your chances.  You'll see these same suggestions in other threads, but here's a quick list:

* Use SA correctly.  You need to click the links and fill out the entry forms to enter.  SweepsCheck is a great tool, but checking it off does not enter you in the sweepstakes.

* Enter lots of sweeps every day.

* Enter the sweeps you really like; skip the ones where the prize isn't a match for you.

* Use an autofill program to speed up your entry time.

* Use the SA tools.  See the "Newbie" thread for more information.

* Enter skill sweeps that require more work because many people skip them.  If you can write an essay, take a photo, or create a recipe, you're competing against a smaller group on entrants.

* Enter the Blog sweeps.  They are less popular and have shorter entry periods.  Your odds of winning are better.

* Read the Rules.  You may disqualify yourself if you don't follow the guidelines.

* Enter as many times as the sweep allows.

* Visit the Forum and compare notes.  We all want to win!

* Have fun, stay calm, and be grateful when you do win something.  A win is a win.

~ Got a winning tip?  We'd love to hear it!

If you enter at the same time every day and haven't won in a long time, change up when you enter - or even in what order you enter.

Keep in mind that while winning is the goal, interacting with other sweepers in the forums and comments is a side benefit that will make you feel like a winner!!!

Dry spells CAN be broken, so don't give up!!! However - if you are starting to feel burned out, take a break - sweeping should be fun, not a chore!!!

I save winning pages to paint, so when I'm blue, I can revisit past wins and reaffirm that I AM a winner - you'd be suprised how such a simple thing can really lift your spirits!!!

On the subject of speeding up entries: More entries in less time = more fun and prizes.
I was using Internet Explorer and getting tired of everything being sooooo slooooow tooooo looooaaaad, especially with SweepsPop loading 20 windows at a time. I just figured it was my computer (it is getting old, like me).
But then I downloaded Firefox - WOW!. Without changing anything else on my computer, the increase in speed is unbelievable!!!
First, it loads SweepsPop in tabs not separate windows which is faster, but each site loads and switches to additional pages so much faster, also.
It does lock up now and then, but even with that I can enter the same number of sweeps in less than half the time I was spending with Internet Explorer. Only now I'm entering twice as many in the same amount of time and winning more!
I strongly recommend Firefox to anyone entering a lot of sweeps. I will never go back to Internet Explorer.

It sounds like you were using an older version of Internet Explorer.  Since IE7 was first introduced, there were major, major upgrades made to it where you wouldn't even recognize it compared to IE6 and previous versions.  The newer versions have the same tab capability as Firefox, and the new add-on, IE7Pro, lets you block and filter whatever and however you want.  It's fantastic! That is so funny!  laughing  I feel the same way!

My tip:  Keep everything positive and congratulate others when they win the sweeps you wanted to win (as hard as it may be!).

I was using Internet Explorer, and it is S-L-O-W! It's a LOT faster to blast through your saved sweeps list with Mozilla Firefox.  headbang

My computer is running so slow it is crazy but after reading here I might just try out another browser for fun and see if there is any difference. The time for the pages to load is a definite frustration to me.

There are many factors on why yours may be slow:

your ISP speed {cox offers 3, we have the 2nd one} matters here.
how many programs you have on your comp, have you run defrag?
how old it is {older comps have trouble keeping up} and 2 years *is* old in this era of 18 months to faster comps!!!  crazy tongue

IE was loading really slow for me, too.  Firefox was SO much better.  I was shocked.  And happy.  Smile

IE super slow for me to.  That's on 3 different computers.  I switched to Chrome a few months ago and it's a lot faster!
